Let's not label everyone here (well, more than 50% of the people who replied to the poll) perverts... We're not saying that we would act on these feelings or that we even have these feelings.... I'm just curious about the morality of the issue - what's really keeping us guys from picking up chicks from the arcade - deep moral values or laws... (Not judging either way - I voted "MAYBE" myself)

Me, no I would not molest someone's child. I HATE dating outside of my age group as I find that I have nothing in common with much younger or older men. I once dated a guy who was 3 years younger (he was legal with a body to die for 1% body fat ), but I had feelings of guilt and had to end it. I just could not get over the psychological block (have a younger brother, 5 years could have been little brother's friend or something). He was pretty hot looking and agreeable though.

I'd base things more of mental maturity than physical maturity. Having relations with a 17 year old that is fully matured (physically and mentally) is acceptable in my eyes. Also, I define "relations" as "a commited relationship".
But you DO have to weigh in the fact that when you are 20+ there is still that age barrier that could put a serious dent in a relationship, and it would be very taxing on someone in high school or such to have to deal with that. So, while I think it's acceptable with many well-defined standards, it's probably not a good idea.
Hell, there are 20+ year olds that act like they are 12 that I wouldn't touch for that reason.

I think laws shape morals too much for this poll to have any bearing. Too many people wiill think, conciously or subconciously, that since something is against the law, it's wrong, and one shouldn't be assosiated with it.

I agree with you.. This is obviously not a scientific poll - just something to think about.. I do feel that the question has struck a nerve with some people but the conversations thus far has been pretty balanced and thoughtful...

Umm, not to get picky, but aren't you involved with someone that has only been out of high school for less than a year?
Here is the problem with this idea:
1) Physical age, in and of itself, means absolute crap.
2) Mental maturity is subjective. It relies on experience. How can you be experienced, if you are not allowed to experience? How do I get a job without experience, when I can not get experience without a job?
The law is in place primarily due to "other peoples" morals. What I mean by this is, when the laws were writen it was by people that had different ideas on what what acceptable - and different needs. (Most of the age of consent laws were based on ideals when lifespans were shorter, and we were not as "civilized" as we are now. I wouldn't call us civilized now..........)
So I do not feel the law applies appropriatly at this time.
But then again, with the mental maturation of most of the women I know...... The age of consent laws should be about 30+.
