Intel isn't market leader because their CPUs are better, they're market leader because till recently very few big OEMs sold AMD machines. AMD doesn't need to do anything but keep beating Intel, their market share is going up because they currently make the best CPU for every market.

Exactly. I'm not a brand fangirl by any means, I like to get the best component that I can afford at the time. But I am turning into an AMD fangirl because they just keep beating up those Intels.

Tha fact is "litle kitty", these stupid slogans do little to regain their market dominance...They will still have the average Joe sucker who doesn't know crap about pCs...He will take any spoon fed crap they give him. On the other hand in the last few years AMD has made some big leaps and is starting to get name recognition. Businesses I know are starting to get some AMD server or workstation computers, and family friends are walking home with AMD based HP and other PCs....

The biggest move for Intel was getting into MACs IMO....However that will change little as Mac fans will always be brand loyal to Mac...

Dont fool yourself...this is about status qou...this is about stopping the bleeding and trying to clot those cuts...the wounds are still there...

Aso AMD will continue to make gains this year as they are still favorable in performance per watt, and the advancement in the lawsuit case will only give them more airwaves....whether Intel wiggles out of that or not the publicity about it is sill negative...Dont forget my non-house broken feline pest people are a sucker for the underdog!!!

Hah, "superior marketing technology", I'm actually tempted to quote that into my sig. Personally I think that retiring the Pentium name is pretty damn stupid. The general public KNOWS pentium, many people actually think that a computer HAS to be a Pentium to be Windows compatible. Retiring such a pervasive brand name to replace it with something as stupid as Core Solo and Duo seems like the worst possible marketing move Intel has done in a while, the same with retiring the "Intel Inside" phrase.

Intel has been in the process of "crushing" AMD for the past 20 years and it had technology superiority for much of this time yet AMD is still alive and kicking (and right now stronger than ever). During these past 3 years, in particular, AMD has been able to convince corporations and the general public that it's much more than just a cheap Intel knockoff. In fact, many people in the industry will not hesitate to say how AMD's processor technology is so vastly superior to Intel's that even Intel's next generation architecture will pretty much only give Intel a performance parity.

I cant vote. I dont see the option of "FelixDeKat is a stupid dumbfvck" because he cant stop making stupid threads. More-so, he has never been able to back up his claims.

Admit it Felix, you're an idiot. Don't be afraid to say the truth. All in all, you're just putting in a bad name for Intel. Obviously, every time you start a dumb thread like this, you end up making AMD looking better. Evidence is thrown in why AMD is superior and the people reading this agree. Quit nubbing yourself out, and get a life.

Well the reason why Intel is dropping the name Pentium is becuase their next gen or desktop processors aren't a "Pentium 5". They are really more like a Pentium 3.5.

Well, the Pentium 3 wasn't really a Pentium 3, more like a Pentium Pro+ and no one complains about Pentium M being a Pentium so why would anyone care if Intel called Conroe a Pentium V?

Whats not true? Intel has 3/4ths of the CPU market. Stop talking out of your 18 year old butcheeks and prove me wrong. Ill bet you cant because you didnt even know what the topic is:

Marketing prowess. Try again. :)

Um. I know exactly what this topic is and I know more about computers then you do obviously. The point is that you often make stupid claims and say stupid sh!t about how Intel kills AMD just because you like the name Intel better. Intel changing their slogan doesn't change the fact that they are behind AMD in performance, efficiency, and etc. Everybody in this forum knows that you're an idiot and a troll. Quit being a stupid little kid. If you want to try and outtalk me, go ahead. You'll never be able to beat me.

So basically you're saying that Intels new marketing slogan, in and of itself, is going to be the main factor that causes AMD to be destroyed.

An interesting concept. Perhaps the ailing GM should change its slogan to "the cars that people buy" to boost its sales. Or better yet, "the car that you buy, always!" so that the competition is effectively blown out of the water.

Honestly, I'm suprised no one has thought of this brilliant idea of using the all powerful marketing slogan to dominate the competition before. Well played intel. Well played.

If AMD wants to keep up...they're going to have to come out with a slogan of "Leap Ahead x 2" or "Leap Aheader" pronto just to stay in the game.

Youre right, since all you want to do is call people names and not address the topic (such as how AMD can counter this assault), I wont bother to "outtalk you".

Otherwise, let me know when you are ready to converse with an adult. :)

"A story titled "New Core Lore a Snore" is already being prepared by someone, someplace, just so they can use the headline."

Whats the deal with this "Will AMD survive" crap? This is the second thread questioning AMD's survival. AMD has changed significantly since the last time its survival was in question, socket A is dead, that piece of garbage athlon XP is gone and has been replaced by a far superior product. Sorry for those that liked that hot, exposed core, vulnarable, slower than the competition chip, there was nothing really going for it except price. Now they have a product thats cooler than intels, more overclockable considering they are still on 90nm, and faster at a lower power usage.

Of course they will survive, companies are a lot more robust than many think, they survived simply making copys of what Intel had for many years, and they will keep on surviving.

I agree, the XP was a piece of crap. I had two die on me. Amd finally got their act together with the x2, but they need to come up with a catchy slogan to get the word out. Because right now, Intel is mopping the floor with them!

The only chip that ever died on me was the second core of my Presler. My 830 was a overheating piece of crap, that had to be water cooled to run 7c hotter at stock speeds than my overclocked X2. My single core engineering sample prescotts run hotter on water than the X2 overclocked on it's stock heatsink. The only thing that came close performance was to the X2 was the presler, but that didn't last long. Nothing wrong with my Dothan however, and overclocked it could keep up with a single core A64 in a lot of things, but at a higher cost. Yes, Intel has a majority of the market, they have a LOT of fabs, and can supply a LOT of chips, and thats why they have the majority of the market, because if it was cost/performance most people were worried about, Intel would have been in big trouble when the Prescott came out. The majority of people don't know the differance between a Celeron, and a stick of RAM.

By that logic, China is the people leader because they have the largest marketshare of them...:)

Now will someone PLEASE lock this stupid thread...?
