where did you get it from?

I got mine today from Sam's Club. They said they got in about 40, started to sell them yesterday, and there were 8 left when I picked mine up.

I was not planning on getting it, since I already have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (which I think is pretty great), but I figured I would try a Nexus device. Plus I want to gloat to my friends at work tomorrow who pre-ordered from Google, and have no idea when they are actually going to get it.

EDIT: Just registered it with my Gmail and got the Play Store $25 credit.

Yep, even though I have an iPad 3, the best thing about the Nexus 7 is that it actually fits in my jeans pocket and white coat pocket, meaning I can easily carry it everywhere. The downfall of the iPad is that I must actively decide to carry it with me because of the width (and I don't think a 7.85" iPad will solve that issue either).

How can you tell if you got the credit? When I go to buy something only my credit card is an option in the drop down menu.

This is the e-mail I got from Google on my Gmail account:

Your $25.00 Google Play balance is ready to use.

To get you started with your Nexus 7, we've given you $25.00 credit to spend on Google Play. Pick your favorite entertainment from more than 600,000 apps and games, millions of eBooks and songs, thousands of movies, and a growing selection of TV shows and magazines.

Your Google Play balance is ready to use right away: to start, just go to the Google Play store and start shopping. During check out, choose "Google Play balance" as your payment method and enjoy your selection.

Hmm, there are a couple of things that are driving me crazy about this tablet, and I see them as huge regressions over my HC/ICS tablets. The first thing is that there is no landscape mode for the home screen. I do not want my tablet to look like a phone, and I do not use it that way either.

Second, there is a black bar on the bottom and top of the screen. The bottom bar has three mega-spaced out back, home, and recent apps buttons that look like total crap. It is also very awkward to press the home button when in landscape mode since it is right in the middle of the bottom of the screen. The top has the time, battery, and pull down notifications. I thought that having everything on one bar on the bottom was a great design choice with HC/ICS. Why screw with this? Once again, this a tablet, not a phone.

I realize that there are hacks to get landscape mode to work, but I am not interested in rooting this tablet, and reports are that it does not work all that well yet on Jelly Bean.

The third thing is Chrome. It is fine 90% of the time, but those other 10% will drive you insane. Sometimes page scrolling takes on a mind of it's own and gets all jittery. When you are trying to input text, it is very difficult to get the movable cursor to come up. I click where I want to put the cursor, and it just keeps setting focus on the text box but with the regular cursor at the end of my text. I've tested other apps, and they work as you would expect. I have always used the stock Android browser on HC/ICS. While it is not the fastest thing around, it is stable and never had hissy fits like this. I guess I will try some different browsers.

I agree with this. While in landscape mode in a browser then you tap the home button and then you have to rotate the unit. So annoying.:\

Download a different launcher like Apex/Nova Launcher and enable the rotation mode. Easy peasy.

Sure that works, but it is a shitty solution because you still have to have the big ass dock enabled to get to the app drawer. At least this is the only way I can find on Nova. This thing not having landscape mode is a head scratcher.

Edit: Looks like Apex has the landscape style app drawer button. I will use that for now.

Your razr can handle HD? Mine hasn't been able to, even on wifi

But I also am hoping the 7 can. Shouldn't be a problem I imagine

Yep. I get hd on my razr. Looks pretty damn nice too. Hoping the tab will do it too. 4.3" is too small and 7" hd would be perfect.

I don't know, it's small enough that it seems portrait mode is a natural default. I tend to use my TouchPad in portrait unless gaming or consuming media.

Also, I think Nova Prime is worth the $5. Enable gestures, swipe up for your app drawer, double tap to open and close dock, or whatever you want.

Ups tracking finally updated and mine is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.
Same. Looks like Google has actually put them in UPS' hands, so we'll actually see them. Only a week after the first people picked them up at retail, but who's counting?

Odd I didn't know it was a race :hmm:

Google said they would be delivered mid-July, looks like my Nexus7 is right on schedule.

Same, said the label was created a week ago. I guess it takes a long time to print them all out. :hmm:

Was funny, this morning when it first updated it said the label was printed on 7/11 and scheduled delivery was 7/13.
I wonder if they were originally supposed to be delivered last week?

Anyways, mine just left South Charleston, WV and is still supposed to be here tomorrow. Can't wait to mess around with it after work.

Interesting, mine was printed on the 9th and just left Louisville Kentucky

Bought from Google without other retailers being mentioned as carrying the thing and if-they-did-offer-getting-first-deliveries-by-buying-direct.
That didn't work out so well.
