<<<... nothing bad ever happens in the Star Trek world ... >>>
<RANT>

That is my major grip about the current Star Trek franchise. If you must stay episodic because of the TV network system and sweeps month, at least have some "major" changes between seasons to keep the story fresh. Voyager lost me as a ST fan, because the story/plot is suck.

I mean you can interchange season 6 episodes with season 1 episodes, and the background/situation is exactly the same with exception of some minor changes (eg Kes, 7of9, Niomi, and the Borgie bunch). With the same "situation" lasting throughout the entire run of the series, you run out of good stories quick, and end up with clichéd or badly written stories.

Year in Hell is a good story and could have made Voyager better if it wasn't someone's bright idea to hit the BIG RESET BUTTON. I mean it will at least put Voyager in a different situation and can have fresh stories to come along with the change. But NO, the run have the be back to the same lovely dovely on its merry way home situation again.

I am a fan of ST:NG & DS9 because it got "fresh" episodes and the story does not become stale. Too bad for Paramount that Voyager lost me a a fan.

Paramount Studios - Take a look at Buffy, the show have "major" changes between seasons to keep ideas fresh. Don't assume that TV viewers are all just imbicles, otherwise, that's the only viewers you are going to get (and it already have happened ::cough:: WWF :cough::). People actually appreciate a good story once in a while, and not just techno-bable and how many "explosions" you can fit in 60 minutes.

That reminds me of a term my friends and I use for the Big Reset Buttonas you say. Star Trek has more of those than I care to think about...but remember that movie a few yarn ago called Final Countdown [modern US carrier time travels to 1941 Pearl Harbor]? Anyway, that movie was shaping up to have some major A$$ kicking by those american jets against the Japanese strike force heading for Pearl Harbor...but at the very last minute "a strange cloud" envelops the Jets and they are transported back to the future. So now whenever we are disappointed by cheese ball endings (reversing time, "it was all a dream", VR storyline, etc.) we say "We got the Cloud." The Cloud is almost synonymous with Star Trek lately :( in my book.

I think Voyage will make it home -- and unfortunately, I think it will be a cheesy ending too. As much as I've enjoyed most of the Voyager episodes, some of their greatest episodes have cheesy/stupid endings.

Wouldn't it be cool if the next ST franchise is about Starfleet Academy? :)

Actually, RaDragon, i think that you're half right, i'e been reading a lot of fan stuff and actually the rumor is that they are planning to do a Starfleet Academy show... based on Earth i'd assume... i hope it doesn't turn into a Dawson's Creek in the 24th century =P and on the movies front, the major rumor is that the next movie will be about Riker and he FINALLY gets his own ship... but i haven't read much about the ST franchises other than that stuff.. and that was a while back...

I got the scoop here. Voyager is going to realize that they can modify their deflector dish to send them into some kind of warp field where they get home in under 2 minutes. Whenever the Enterprise was stuck in a sticky situation, they always used the deflector dish as a tool for something. Voyager will realize they can do the same with their deflector dish as well.

One of my favorite voyager episodes is the one with Q where Janeway has to decide whether to permit a Q to commit suicide. Can't think of any other good episodes. I wish they did a show based on Sulu as a captain however I doubt that will happen. He would have made a good captain. The idea of Voyager wasn't that bad. They just did a really bad job with creating the characters and coming up with good stories. I can still watch ST:TNG over and over again but not DS9 and Voyager.
