Widescreen is ok on my laptop when im sitting 2 feet from the screen, but when watching the TV from across the room widescreen is annoying. When i buy a 25 inch TV i want to see 25 inches of TV not black bars on the top and bottom just so i can see the extras picking thier nose outside center screen.
Isn't the original point of widescreen so that you could have a wider theater and fit more people in? I doubt it was used for the purpose of having interesting things happen in the margins.
The original purpose of widescreen was to differentiate movies from the TV that was stealing it's crowds.

I love Widescreen and all..... but one stupid thing about widescreen is the multiple widescreen formats. So even on a Widescreen TV some movies will have black bars... (granted the bars arent as big as they are on a 4x3 TV but still, that sucks IMO) I really wish they would pick one format and have everybody work in that (TV's, movie directors, everybody)

Make sure you get anamorphic widescreen.

where's the option for "widescreen on a 16:9 tv" ???

I like widescreen, but only because I have a big tv. If I had like a 30" or so I'd probably just use fullscreen.
