Well one of the biggest issues would be people are not productive usually when it's dark out.

As far as time zones and latitude/longitude, do you understand why we have time zones to begin with and how they work?

They work so that If i'm in London I can say "the blokes in LA aren't going to be up t'll 7am Local" and then I can do a conversion and know when the hell I can call.

I hate daylight savings time. I hate it a lot. Waking up an hour early every day for 6 months sucks. I have a hard enough time crawling out of bed at the crazy early hour of 8 to be in the office by 9, getting out of bed at 7 (when the clock says it's 8 because it's evil) is a miserable existence.

I wish I could have a normal internal clock, one that made me tired at night instead of in the morning.
That's fixable. Try watching TV news every evening, first the local, then national, than another dose of local news. After developing a pattern of doing this you will be getting sleepy by the time it's over. Also, I have some reading that's guaranteed to have your eyes getting heavy before too long. D:

What reading do you suggest?
I generally read around 12ish at "bedtime" ... since it sometimes helps to make me drowsy.

I've been reading "The Years of Extermination", which is an extremely dry and slow read... but it usually takes 1-2 hours to get drowsy while reading this....

I believe a few people have suggested "just change your hours during the summer." A lot of people enjoy the extra hour of daylight in the evening (I suppose it doesn't matter to people who sit on the couch and play xbox and playstation when they get home.) But, it's not as easy as simply changing your own schedule. If you have families (many of you don't... yet), then you have to coordinate school schedules, etc.

Here's a thought - for those who can change their schedules by an hour - why don't YOU change by an hour when we switch to daylight saving time - instead of working 8-5, you start working 9-6? Then, we could watch you post all summer, "this sucks. It's beautiful outside and all my coworkers left an hour ago. I'm stuck here because I'm physically and mentally weak - I couldn't cope with changing my clock by an hour a couple months ago."

Ha, we had this debate the other night and almost came to blows. Amazing how attached we are to outdated, stupid practices. Hell, China occupies enough surface for 11 times zones. How many do they use? One. When it's noon in Kashgar, it's noon in Shanghai.

Totally cosign.

I was late to work the past 2 days because my sleep schedule is set. The rest of the world thinks it's dumb too.

I wonder if any of you chuckleheads realize why time zones are important to productivity.

It comes from a basic biological basis.

we cant go on permanent DST in the north east...
standard time give the temp enought time to warm up and the snow removal equipment time to plow/salt the roads prior to your departure for daily employment.
