Am I the only one getting a bit pissed off?

I can "feel" that I had an hour ripped off from me. Son of a bitch... I want an extra hour to neff.

Starting in a few weeks when I finally get to leave the school before 7pm, I'm going to absolutely love the extra hour of daylight so that I can spend more time outside being productive. Love it, love it, love it.

And, after I retire, if it were put to a vote, I'd still vote to have DST put into place during the summertime, if only so I can listen to all the whining twice a year.

um, billions of people not doing it doesn't mean anything...
Since you seem to think that the number of people using a system makes it better, here's an idea:
Have a single time zone for the entire us with no daylight savings.

India has a single timezone (also it's offset by half an hour).
China has a single timezone.
That's nearly half of the world right there using a single timezone in a large country.

Therefore, since billions of people using a single timezone in their country, the us should use a single timezone as well.

Gooooooooooo logic!
gooooooooooo strawman!

Personally, I think we should scrap it. Its pretty pointless in modern society and the major reasons for its original creation no longer exist.

Even living in a state that doesn't use DST, its still mildly irritating because I know people on the east and west coast who do change. My family bounces between 2 hours ahead and 3 hours ahead. If I were to call at 7p my time, it'd be 10p there now. Far too late an hour to call. Which, really restricts when I can call because I'm usually not done with my day until after 6:30p at the earliest.

Following your logic, it's a pain in the ass for the majority of us because some idiot states don't follow DST.

Jesus. We have gotten so wrapped up in ourselves we complain about taking 15 seconds to adjust a clock.

RIP the human race.

PS. I like it.

it's not the clock on the wall I object to, it's fucking with biological clock that is the problem. Traffic accidents spike for a few weeks because of sleep deprivation.

Yeah if there is anything to BIG GOVERNMENT CONTROL, its daylight savings.
And weird too, not one of those running for president hasn't campaigned on promising to stop-end it if elected.
Hell... I might even vote for Newt if Newt promised to end it. I bet that issue alone could win anyone the white house hands down.

If anything needs to be put up for some ballot public vote, its daylights saving...!!!!!!

Crap... even with keeping with winter hours, it would still be light till 8 - 9 pm most of the summer time. Who needs their kids out playing in the streets until 11pm all Summer long, every night ????

When daylights saving first came up in congress, one of the arguments against was that in the spring with the loss of one hour, people would be more tired and the threat of commies taking over would be greater because we would all be too tired and not alert to see the commies coming. That was one actual argument, or close to. The commie threat and tired Americans.
Funny.... Today I do feel more tired then usual, and a little more commie.
O M G !!!!!! It's happening !!!!

That's exactly what daylight saving time does. Gives you more sunlight in the evening/less in the morning. I feel we should move permanently to DST.

In the winter months, the sun rises at around 9.a.m and it sets around 2:45 p.m here.

So it's a good idea to sleep for an hour longer in the morning. If you get up at 7, you only have to wait two hours for daylight instead of 3 hours.

It doesn't really matter though - it's pitch black both when you leave for work and when you come back home.

This. I wish we had permanent DST. Mornings suck ass anyways, I don't need light during that time.

Why not have summer time all year around? Would that cut down on your ATOT time?

I live in Berkeley, CA. It's going to be different if you live in Alaska or South Florida. But here in late June (summer equinox) it's light at 5AM and getting dark by 9:15PM. Now ask yourself if you prefer it be be light at 4AM and getting dark at 8:15PM. You probably said "no." See, Daylight Savings Time gets you more light during the hours you actually want to be able to do things in the light outdoors. Stop grumbling.

I just hate the biological adjustments. I couldn't fall asleep last night until about an hour later than usual, and right now I feel like I am waking up an hour earlier than usual, which = me being tired and thus my work day pretty much automatically ruined. Coffee will help me, but I will crash hard after lunch... I need 7 hours of sleep to have a good day, and right now I feel like I'm coming off 5.

Just keep it at DST all year.

I think an informal study needs to be done to compare the sentiments about DST in winter vs those in spring.

"Awesome, I get an extra hour! DST rules!"

"Goddamn DST. I want my hour back! Rabble!"

Thankfully I use devices that automatically set the time. Aside from a wristwatch, what doesn't?

stove, microwave, wall clocks, thermostat, the clocks in my cars, XM radio which will be a hour behind until the next time change. so yea lots of things.
