Poll: What's your blood type?

I try to give blood on a regular basis, and today when I was going through the standard ID phase before they stick you, they asked me my blood type. I told them and they said it was a rare type and that I should give a double dose using the Alyx machine (I think I'm spelling it correctly).

So, just out of curiousity and because I'm a little out of it, what's your blood type? Mine's B-
 
it's whatever is the one that can donate to everyone but can only get from the same type... O something or other. After 9/11 the RedCross was hounding me for my blood.

Unfortunately, although I'm an O- (universal donor), I am scared of giving blood. I'm not too squeamish around needles but I heard they have to prick your finger first. I can't STAND that and I will put forth every effort to avoid it if possible. Also when I was in high school, a lot of students gave blood and a lot of them had to get jabbed many times over because they couldn't find the vein or something. That also turns me off.

I guess I'd give blood if they were able to test my blood without jabbing my finger and if they could hit the vein the first time. If they can't hit it I'd want to just get up and leave and be like "you had your chance, sorry."

I feel bad about it since I have the most useful blood but it just creeps me out too much.

The finger prick test is to check your iron levels. If you're anemic then they will decline you. They don't exactly want you to pass out while giving blood. 😀

A general hint in giving blood is to make sure you drink plenty of water the day before and day of your donation. It really helps in opening up your veins. Or at least it does for me - I'm usually done donating in about five minutes, and I have to sit there for a few mins more as they finish up.

I know but can't they just take a little bit from your arm instead? Ever since the last time I had my finger pricked in 7th grade or something I have requested that any blood tests use my arm and not my finger. I just hate it; I cringe just thinking about it. The arm doesn't bother me though.
