Would give again?

Unfortunately, although I'm an O- (universal donor), I am scared of giving blood. I'm not too squeamish around needles but I heard they have to prick your finger first. I can't STAND that and I will put forth every effort to avoid it if possible. Also when I was in high school, a lot of students gave blood and a lot of them had to get jabbed many times over because they couldn't find the vein or something. That also turns me off.

I guess I'd give blood if they were able to test my blood without jabbing my finger and if they could hit the vein the first time. If they can't hit it I'd want to just get up and leave and be like "you had your chance, sorry."

I feel bad about it since I have the most useful blood but it just creeps me out too much.

I've never understood why it has to be a finger. I mean they just need a drop of blood so why can't it come from your forearm or something? Damned fingers are the MUCH more sensitive than my arm ...

No idea. Coincidentally, I had to get blood drawn today for the first time in my life (to start routine blood work). So I will finally know my blood type when I see those results. I was surprised actually that it didn't hurt, like I barely felt the prick of the needle going in then that was it. I could see getting light headed if I gave a pint or something though. Not a huge fan of needles so now that I know it is so quick and painless I might donate. :)

So I'm the only one that has 2 pints of TridentBoy3555 coursing through his veins, eh?

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I actually don't know my BT

I'm B+ as is my husband and, thankfully for the sake of my marriage, so are both my children.

Cause people think I have the AIDs...

Ok, no. They want me to get checked out for the same reason people go get annual check ups. So, pretty much just to get a blood profile done.
