BeOS 5 Pro definately.

Here's a treat for you BeOS users that's hot out of the oven: full NVIDIA 2D driver for all chips except the 128 series...which means TNT, TNT 2, geforce, geforce 2, etc! I guess there's an insider at NVIDIA helping Be out. Now all we need is 3D support when the hardware OpenGL add-on is released :)

Added BeOS :). I would install it on my spare machine but NT4 is so perfectly setup. IF anyone had a 1-2 gig drive they can spare..i'll definetly give it a try ;).

Sinclair Basic. I like using three fingers to POKE, OK?
(secretly I liked writing rude messages on store demo models and disabling the break key titter titter)

Win95 OSR2: all the functionality with none of the bloat; it's the lean mean gaming OS.

For all those who are saying Win2k, do you enjoy an OS that requires 96MB to run? Another strike against Win2k is the gaming support: you will have various troubles! Win2k is made for security, since the NT kernel is targeted for businesses. As a gamer, I'd trade speed for security any day.

Win NT 4.0 is the best!

Win2K Pro is too bloated and buggy.

<< Win2k is indestructible >>

LOL! Your kidding right?

Depends:

I liked BeOS but it was useless for anything other then surfing and email (not enough apps yet).

I like linux until I have a problem. Then after several days of screwing around (and completely messing up my operating system, FAQs say patch / recompile your kernel with way to much frequency) I usually give up.

Win2k for most stuff. Handles my games, my hardware (except my DC10+, damn you Pinnacle) and my general apps quite nicely.

Win98. Good for the average computer user.

Windows 98 SE. Really stable, nice interface and runs really well. I really like Windows 2000 too but it doesn't quite run games as well as Windows 98.

LOL! Your kidding right?

Why should he be kidding? Windows 2000 has an industry rated MTBF of 72 weeks, which is 1.5 years. Sure if you use buggy device drivers or get viruses it will crash, but any OS will crash with these things (Yes that includes Linux/UNIX).

Hmm..my poll got alot of attention and hurt some feelings  But I still think Windows 2000 Advanced Server is the best and most stablest of em all. BeOS..haven't used but i'm currently trying out about 5 Linux distros and see which one is the best. I'll keep you guys informed.

For those who used BeOS and didn't find much software and applications try out BeBits which has free software and you can buy a lot of commercial software there too. Also try Boost Signal for free apps and try the Gobe online store for commercial products like the great Gobe Productive 2.0 office suit,BeOS professional Edition, and games by Next Generation Entertainment. You can also get games ported by Wildcard design like Civ: Call to power and others at Wildcard Design's website. :)

Another one for Win2k pro. Running for 6 months now. Only one blue screen from misconfigured BIOS on this KA7 a while back. And a bargain for what I got it for!!

I hear ya Dufusyte. 96MB of ram is why Windows 2000 will never be a mainstream OS.

Hmm..running adv server and all the games run. UT, Q3A, Deus Ex, System Shock 2, Q2, SoF, and more. And I've ran Win2k Pro on a PII 400 w/ 64MB ram and runs FINE. Much more stabler than any 9x i've been on.

I put a vote down for the Windows 2000 Server Family
Advanced Server rocks (if you have enough ram :))

Good choice :). I'm running it with 256MB with unecessary services disabled (How many times have I said that?) hehe...

<<Hmm..why is Windows 2000 Pro leading in the polls?>>

Because Anandtech is full of techies :) and a couple thousand users is hardly considered a majority.
