don't discrimate for those that have single trash speakers....

Normally I use a pair of Grado SR-80 headphones (incredible for the price), but I used my christmas money to grab the Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultra's, and they were definitely worth the money. Hooked up to an audigy 2, both sound nice.

I used to have the monsoon MM-2000 4.1 speaker set, but then in the dorn I moved to a smaller logitech z-340 setup (2.1) + I have a pair of good headphones (Sony MDR-V6).

I have run all this off a turtle beach santa cruz. I am not a big fan of creative.

The Z-340 has excellent sound :)

2.1 for the computer. Some cheap Creative, works good for gaming.

2 ch stereo for the main HiFi rig.
Dual 621 turntable, Panasonic DVD/CD player, Yamaha Tuner, Yamaha Casette deck, Rotel amplifier + JBL TLX-8 speakers, enough to get evicted fron the apartment.

I have a nice altec lansing setup (2.1).....I am not a 16 high schooler or a 20 year old college kid in a dorm...I perfer to watch DVDs in the family room with the family.....BUt an occasional watching of TV or a movie on the side as I work on something is fine and I don't need the killa sound for that...

I also run much improved onboard sound, that neither limits my ocs (like some I wont mention) and crashes my pc with driver installs (like some I wont mention).

I am not a big gamer so I don't see the need there as well....

The need for DACs that don't make your music flatter than a 52kbps MP3? Using onboard audio for analog out is just saying you don't care about audio quality...

2.1 is fine for me. I dont watch movies much on my computer, nor play videogames that require extreme surround sound.
if i do watch movies, i rather watch it on the widescreen on 7.1 ;)

For my PC, I have a Yamaha RX-V530 receiver, Energy Take 5.2 speakers (and matching Energy sub). Soundcard is Audigy 2 ZS. For games, I use the 5.1 direct input of the receiver hooked up to the analog outs of the Audigy. For movies, music, I use the digital out of the Audigy and let the receiver do all the decoding.
Headphones is an Optimus (Radioshack) Pro-60, a discontinued model I got for $5, and this is the best headphones I've listened to so far. Its got huge drivers and frequency response is flat but has great extension on both high and low ends.
