Looks like Cameron may want out. So the Mets could either trade him for a prospect or some middle relief or they could just allow a team like Houston to simply take his salary. If his salary is cleared then that is a sign that Delgado would be on his way. I like Cameron though and if he could play a good right field then I'd rather keep him, but then that takes away a chance for a young guy like Victor Diaz to try to win a spot in the roster.

cameron made it clear, hes willing to move to RF if mets sign Beltran. Hes an Atlanta native and loves the NY Region. Braves already have A. Jones so to move Cameron is unlikely. Even if the Mets pursue Sosa, Sosa will be play LF instead. Mets might have just enough cap room to sign Delgado if he accepts that 30 mil offer.

I guess Cameron wanted to look like a team player thinking (and hoping) that the Mets weren't going to get him. And then do a 180 when the Mets did get him.

article
Mets centerfielder Mike Cameron previously stated that he'd be willing to move to right if the Mets acquired centerfielder Carlos Beltran. The Mets announced Beltran's signing on Tuesday, and Cameron promptly reversed field. A source told Newsday that Cameron has demanded a trade. The paper lists the Astros, Diamondbacks, and Tigers as potential partners.

Which is why if Cameron gets traded to another team that is willing to take his entire salary (I'm sure there is another team out there in need of a defensive center fielder) the Mets free up more salary, which means Delgado could be signed.

Wow if it's true that he's demanding a trade, he's a real a-hole for lying about the Beltran situation.

Well Jeff Duncan needs to learn how to hit a baseball first. He sure can cover the outfield though and he has great speed and base stealing possibilites. When Duncan was called up the dude barely swung the bat!! He was always bunting for base hits. That totally annoyed me. I hope he's learned a bit more at AAA and is ready to give it his all during spring training.

hehe...

all in all, though, Minaya has done a great job with this team. Yes, the Mets overpaid for Pedro, but because of that they were able to sign Beltran who is now the cornerstone of the franchise. Very often, you need good players on your team to convince other good players to sign on.

all this talk about how mets over paid ....

"... when yanks aren't spending they critized for not spending enough"

"... when mets are spending they are critized for spending too much"

Jeter = overpaid

Ain't that the damned truth. Come on Delgado !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok, so OMAR cleared up the fact that cameron will shift to RF.

Polls indicate that Yanks have a 1 vote lead. As a Met fan I will not fruitlessly let this injustice be ... therefore BIZZZZUMP

Olerud's agent said John would like to play next season and he is interested in the Mets. Would be a good fallback in case Delgado is not signed.

There was this wacky rumor started in some LA radio show about Piazza getting traded to the Dodgers for Brazoban, another minor leaguer and some cash. Of course it was proven false. Love how a little rumor in LA went as far as NY. Piazza will have more protection around him this upcoming season with Beltran, Floyd, Wright..etc. I think Piazza will be much better than the past 2 years though I know its not saying a whole lot.

Derek Jeter all the way!

I remember what was said once on SNL when Derek was the host.. Derek Jeter is a cross between The Rock and a Muppet. Eh..wasnt too funny..and neither was Jeter as host though I didnt expect much.

Piazza I think was either just married or will be married soon to some model or playmate.

Pizza will knock in a few more RBIs thats for sure. I would like the Met to keep him until his contract is up at least. Piazza for Sosa deal is just ... blah, then they really have the change the team's name to New York Hispanics (no offense to anybody of that nationality) but seriously, i'm sure ppl have tried to ignore this topic but it would be the last straw if Sosa came onboard. Perhaps the Mets would be in a better position with a team who signed Maggio Ordonez and work out a Sign and Trade deal. Mags would be more productive than the aging Sosa. Piazza and Cliff for Mags ... lovely.

i personally like Vance Wilson behind the plate i think his potential is very high.
