Once I get my children, they'll be well behaved since I'll be picking on their behavior and telling them to "Don't touch that! Don't poke your fingers into the power supply! Don't pee in your pants" then I'll SPANK EM LIEK N00BS!

Just because most spanking is relatively minor when compared to what you experienced, it doesn't make spanking a good thing.

Its like saying that pickpocketing someone is ok, because no one got beat up or killed.
 
I think they should be spanked in extreme situations, my wife disagrees. My daughter is 4 and I've spanked her twice. Whether it was right or not, I don't know, but I DO know that:

1. It broke my heart both times and I regretted it for days. I love her to death and the last thing I ever want to do is cause her pain.

2. My daughter does what I tell her, but ignores my wife even when she's angry and yelling. I could be wrong, but I believe its because she thinks I'll spank her and mommy won't. So although it killed me to do it twice, it apparently worked.

3. Its much funner to spank my wife.

I didn't say that at all. I'm merely stating my opinion that I do not believe that spanking a child isn't abuse. There is a such thing as abuse--I know. But spanking your child for a reason isn't abuse. Spanking may be bad in your world, and that's fine. I got my ass spanked when I was a kid too. But it wasn't abuse. I was merely pointing out the later.

i have two, and i can count on both hands the times ive had to spank them. last time was my daughter 3yrs ago when she shoved her little brother off the couch, again, after time outs and restriction bullshat. she learned that time.

kids act the same way to my wife until she gets loco on them. restrictions and time outs are completely uneffective when it comes to her for some reason. i tell her to spank them when needed, but she just wont. i only have to tell them once, tho.

no biggie really. children have always been more attentive to the father when it comes to discipline anyway. just the way the world works.

and i agree 100%. it is more fun to spank your wife.😛
 
i was spanked as a child and i have the utmost respect for my parents.
i spanked my kids when they were young and they treat me with respect.
there is a big difference between spanking and abusing.
 
spank the ****** out of the children.

i mean, i see how well the no-spanking policy works on that super nanny show. i mean hell, a few days in my house and those kids would be set straight.
 
yes, kids need discipline and sometimes, verbal discipline isn't enough. we as a society have become far more lenient and have spoiled our kids. it is time to put them in their place
 
Yes, if only on their bottom, and used sparingly. When I was growing up, it was moreso the "concept" of being spanked, I think I was only spanked a couple times in my life... but I got the message.... I think it works much better as a psychological fear.
