Atheism has powers guiding it: the power of hate and the power of whining about religions.
I don't believe in god, but I am able to respect and celebrate other peoples' beliefs...but I would never call myself atheist.
i don't see how you can not call yourself atheist.
atheism has nothing to do with hate or whining about religions. some atheists might hate and whine about religions, but that's a separate issue.
tell that to the atheists...no matter how you define it, i don't want to be associated with those type of people.
it's a mixture of belief, pride, and psycho-establishment..."I don't believe in X, you do. It makes sense that my beliefs are better, therefore, I am better than you because you are sheep. The fact that disbelief is another form of sheeping is acceptable, because science is our god, etc etc."
Um, you obviously don't know too many Atheists.
Besides, like Gopunk said, that trait isn't a part of the definition of Atheism. You don't believe in God... this makes you an Atheist. Which just goes on to prove that not all Atheists are "those kind of people" seeing as how you are an Atheist and you aren't "those type of people."
And I'm an Atheist. Would you associate me with "those kind of people?" You can see me defending people who are religious on this board. I have done it plenty of times. And my best friend goes to Church twice a week. Almost every Atheist I know is respectful of other peoples beliefs (in fact, the only ones who aren't are some in the "Goth" crowd I have seen, and they have more problems than just being disrespectful of religion).
Your lableing all Atheists as "those kind of people" is just plain incorrect.
