first of all... jerks may get laid more than nice guys if you're looking at a single jerk and a single nice guy compared to eachother.... but more nice guys have girlfriends than jerks, and guys with girlfriends tend to get action quite frequently.... a lot more often than a single jerk. granted, its always with the same girl (provided your a nice guy, and not a jerk who cheats on his girlfriend), but its still very often.

now, lets consider the "hot girls like jerks" statement we started with... we'll assume this is true. "nice guys" (who are actually just smarter, less cocky jerks at heart) can take advantage of this situation like so:

1) hot girl sleeps with jerk, because hot girl is too damn stupid to realize he is a jerk... as most hot girls are.
2) said hot girl gets heart broken upon realizing said jerk is a jerk, and not Mr. right.
3) Mr. Nice (you) finds said hot girl in peices, and proceeds to help her get through hard times
4) said hot girl becomes dependant on said Mr. Nice (still you), at which point the two decide on a girlfriend/boyfriend arrangement.
5) Now, said Mr. Nice gets action from said hot girl whenever the hell he wants, because said hot girl is under the impression that said mr. nice is also mr. perfect, and she worships him

this model works perfectly... almost. first of all there's the issue of getting "used equipment." if this doesn't bother you then you're good to go... but it does bother some people. also... when you get sick of the hot girl and are ready to move onto the next, she's not so easy to get rid of. she is dependant on you... she needs you in order to be happy... You're only chance of survival is to pry her away and run like hell. And then you've got the issue of being a nice guy and feeling bad for hanging the hot girl out to dry.

or you could just find somebody that you love who loves you also, then be happy with spending the rest of your life with a slightly less-hot, but still enjoyable partner. hot girls don't age well anyways (or so i hear).

I agree partially with this- it's true self-confidence is attractive, but not because women think that a guy with self-confidence will be successful. Or in my case where the ratio is 5:1. as in 5 guys to 1 girl. that was the last stat i heard anyway. I happen to be one of the shy guys so if you do some quick math, that is bad news for me. scarcely a girl in sight + shy = single. i'm too busy with school to bitch and moan about it that much. I'd say i envy guys who have that swagger and skill to go up to every girl. I know a particular friend of mine is really good at that. I like quiet girls, which also makes it harder to find them. ah well, such is life...
