You have to add some basil and Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning. Otherwise it's a bit bland.

This is why you make your own.

Real macaroni and cheese > anything you get in a store.

I didn't vote because I'll eat mac n cheese any of the ways mentioned in the poll. I haven't tried with pepper though, that sounds pretty good.

Bowl, spoon, both, and I make it with 1/3c milk instead of 1/4 (I like it slightly soupy...I know, weird).

I'll sometimes mix chili in it... or left over sloppy joe's.... but usually it's consumed straight up. :)

Bowl, Fork, and pepper. The damn stuff is already loaded with salt and thus it is very unnecessary to add more in my opinion.

bowl, spoon, pepper. It's a bit much to add salt to salty cheese.

I assume we're talking Kraft in a box here. If it's Stouffers, or Banquet (on sale) I use the plastic tray thingy it comes in of course. If it's homemade-from-scratch I use the dining table, with a tablecloth, the good china and the good silverware, candlelight and a string quartet in the background. In other words, I don't make it from scratch.

I can't think of any commonly consumed food that I find more disgusting than mac and cheese from a box. In fact, I don't even consider that crap to be macaroni and cheese. It's "macaroni and some sort of salty powder used for making cheese popcorn."

Always from scratch, always from good cheese, always on a plate, and always with a fork. It doesn't even make sense to eat the real stuff with a spoon. Because the poll is so high for "bowl" and "spoon", I'm going to have to assume that a lot of you eat that disgusting concoction that doesn't even taste like real macaroni and cheese. Shame on you and Kraft for calling it macaroni and "cheese."

I am properly humbled by your response. Okay, the stuff in the box is one of my secret pleasures, like peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwiches. I agree that it isn't anything like real mac and cheese - but I like it anyway. The actual Kraft macaroni is a very nice texture, and I saw a Unwrapped or something that showed Kraft making the powder, starting with lots of actual cheese (though I'm sure much nonfood stuff is added).

I do know how to make mac and cheese from scratch, but now that I live alone I haven't yet figured out how to make just one serving at a time. It doesn't freeze well enough to bother making a regular batch.

Now I'm hungry . . .

DrPizza I only start from scratch - dry mac, I boil them, real cheese, and STILL bowl spoon s/p + other spice
