I was just curious as to what percentage of the Anandtech community smokes.....that and I've never created a poll before and wanted to do it. :)

Just to clarify, I'm talking about cigarettes here. Anything else you may smoke is your own business.

Never! My wife did for 5 years, then quit cold turkey. She hasn't smoked in 2 years.

I've been a smoker for 9 years now; I wish I never started. I've always told myself that I'll quit but I don't see it happening.

I mean everytime I drink a cup of coffee or pound a few brews, the smoke calls to me - I gotta have it. Plus, I enjoy smoking!

But every morning I wish I never started - coughing, hacking, spitting up lung chunks. I gotta have a few smokes just to alleviate it. Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it?

thats exactly why i decided to quit Yuto.. i had all the same feelings that you have and they were developing stronger everyday...

thats when i knew i had to quit and one day i was like "what's the point??"

its still hard when i drink some brew... or especially after a nice big meal... thats probably the roughest time.... but i know itll be worth it.. and as bad as this sounds.... itll be worth it because i dont ever want to be like YOU.... hehe...

""HEY YOU! YEAH YOU OVER THERE! PUT THAT THING OUT.....YOU'RE KILLING MY LUNGS!!!""

I don't know how many times I've said that, or something similar. :|

Quit January 4 of this year. I still have a cigar, maybe every other month and it has no effect on me. I just woke up and decided I was done, threw away my smokes and have only had the urge twice. Once at my brothers bachler party and one other time drinking--that's it.:D
The thing is, you really have to want it. But they also say that you are not really a quitter until you have gone without for over 3 years. So I am still worried about a relapse. Just holding my breath.:frown:

Yo sandigga - 'sup with the shot? <J/K>

I know that one day I should quit (I've never tried). But there are times that I know I can't go without a smoke - while drinking, after a good meal, driving on the highway, after a stressful situation, when you've had a great session of lovin' with your girlfriend, etc...

Plus, alot of my close friends smoke, which makes it that much harder.

Out of all the drugs out there, I believe that nicotine is the most addictive and harmful. Smoking is a nasty habit and a lot harder to kick than you think.

To all the youngsters reading this thread - DON'T START! You might think it's cool/rebellious, or it'll make you look older/more sophisticated; don't kid yourself! I wish I never started. Sometimes I wonder how many years I've shortened my life because of smoking.

Ah, F*** it (as I light up another cancer stick)! Live hard and die young! <cough, cough>
