just for reference a latino is anyone with any latin decent. Although in my area it is usualy mexicans who mow lawns because I am in Texas, the ethnicity of your cheap labor may vary so it would probably be easier to say latino since everyone would fall under that category.

got to give it up to them though. they work hard for very little money. and you know what they do with that money? they send it back to their families in mexico. my friend worked at a mexican restaurant, and she said they were all dish washers, and they worked hard as hell, and they got paid very little, but just about every dime they got went to their families down south. you dont see a lot of mexicans who spend 10 hours a day washing cars blowing that money on crack or blow. nope, it goes to their families down south, while they share a beat-down hotel room with 4-5 other guys. thats why i give them credit for what they do and respect that.

I see a lot of Latinos and pickup trucks doing landscaping/lawn care in my parents' subdivision. Maybe it's the same guys and truck, I'm not sure. But I think maybe I've seen two at the same time. They do a lot of people's lawns.

In fact, a lot of the Mexicans (myself included) HATE with a passion being called "hispanics". Everytime I travel to the USA and somebody asks me if I am hispanic, I say NO, because I am not. If you want to use the proper term to refer to our RACE, use the word "Mestizo", which was given to the descendents of native indians and Spaniards.... 95% of us are result of that mix.
The term hispanic gives preponderance to Spanish part, but many of us feel more Aztecs or Mayans.... after all, if we felt spaniards we would be in Spain.....

To avoid hassle Simply call us "latinos" or "LatiAmericans" (careful here, give the "American" part its REAL meaning.....)

Regarding the original question, yes I do, I have Mexicans mowing the lawn..... Wait, that guys looks like me.... hey, I guess that person mowing the lawn is ME

I live in an apartment complex that is mowed by Mexicans, I work for a Fortune 50 company that uses Mexicans to do groundskeeping, cleaning and waste disposal...I just wish all these Mexicans would open up a decent restaurant. all the ones we have here are crap.

You have found one of the reasons why many of my co-nationals go to the USA... make more money that can be sent to their relatives. Yes, their life is tough, but it is tougher to see your family starving or living in misery.....

I guess I mentioned it before, we have the 12th largest economy in the world, but the disparity in wealth between the rich and the poor is so wide it is even sadenning.... not to mention that our middle class is only 15%, and more than 80% are poor

Many of the se workers are seasonal however, they go for a few month and come back.... and so on

not necessarily. latino is anyone that speaks a latin derived language. that includes spanish, portuguese, french, italian, and romanian. hispanic is anyone whose ancestral line has passed through a spanish speaking country. that includes blacks, white, asians, indigenous people, anyone really. mestizo is most apropos.

How is this thread racist? It's very common that Mexicans (and no, not Spanish Americans) mow lawns for a living. My dad hires them for his landscaping business and they normally do the lawns. I have to comment on what someone said earlier about most of them being illegal. A LOT of them ARE illegal. My dad got burned by the IRS several times after submitting their social security numbers on numerous occasions.

Haven't you guys seen those day workers on the street? They run after your truck if you pull over to their curb. You think they're all legal? Psst

The only Mexican's working on my yard are me and my family. But I do see alot of white people on the streets BEGGING for money.....hmmmmm.

I have NEVER seen a Mexican panhandler in the US. I have seen them on corners selling flowers/oranges/etc. or doing yardwork, but I've NEVER seen one asking for handouts.
