I've seen no valid evidence to suggest it. So no.

How could you find evidence to support life after death?
A post on ATOT by a dead person. Or maybe if a dead person made a Myspace page. That'd be definitive, indisputable proof.

I don't get it. The poll is right around 50/50.

For those that voted "no", what is the purpose of existing? What do you people live for? Why are you here?

On what do you base your belief in life after death? Except for seeing and hearing a lot of people express their belief in it, I know of no emprical proof for it.

I know LAD is one of the major foundations of Christian doctrine. Not being a Christian, do not see the connection of LAD with purpose of existing.

To effect those who will survive you. To make an impact such that you will be remembered, hopefully in a positive light. Live for family, friends, and accomplishments. And of course, have fun. 🙂
I never liked the idea of doing good just to get a reward of that eternal afterlife, or simply to avoid eternal punishment. That sort of thinking works fine on a child's mind - it's not fully developed, and not quite capable of making well-thought-out decisions or thorough analyses. So keep it simple - be good, and get a reward, like TV or some cookies. As a person grows, they should learn to do good things for the sake of doing good. Be kind to others simply because it's nice, not just to earn brownie points from some deity.

I can't see any point in not wanting to believe this. Better than nothing at all.
There's a difference between wanting something and having it. You may want to believe that you are able to walk on air, but that won't make it happen. For some of us, we may wish for an afterlife of some sort, but we just don't see it as a remote possibility, therefore believing in it isn't really an option.
Concerning the "better than nothing at all," see previous paragraphs.

does it really matter if there is or isn't. No use fretting over this, we'll find out when when our time is up.

What makes you think there is a purpose?

Wow, the poll is close! I would have figured that No would be winning, since most ATOT'ers seem to be atheist or agnostic.

I really wish that there is life after death, but I don't believe that there is. I figure that if your brain is gone then nothing exists of you anymore. There is no imagery to be seen. But who knows. The way I'd imagine it is that you'd be dreaming after death with the few brain cells you did have left, and then all of a sudden you'd die when the rest of the cells completely decayed.

There is life after death, of course 🙂 Perhaps not with you in it, but it's there. So by definition, yes. If you were looking purely for a religious argument in favor of it rather than good old fashioned logical, you should have stated the question better. As it stands, yes there is.

On the other hand, when he said death he did not refer to someone specific such as the reader. It could be death of all life which would mean it was true.
