Carter is not even in the same league. the guy needs to learn how to play defense first.

Guys, once again, you can't say Kobe is better than Allen, only because Kobe has a championship ring. I think Sam Cassell won in his first 2 Seasons the championship, but it didn't make him better than John Stockton. Period.

Edit: I think Chris Webber is one of the best @ the moment.

<< Iverson? Bryant? If you ask me, they are both overpaid and overhyped selfish brats....what happened to the Birds and Magics of the game, true team players....... >>

golden age thinker... iverson is a team player...he is the go-to guy on the team and he plays well within his teams' system. iveron has true leadership qualities as he plays through ridiculous injuries... size disadvantage aside, iverson is just as dangerous as Kobe.

good pt ndee...i hate ppl who use irrelevant comparisons about rings and stuff...basketball is a team game and those pleyers did not earn a ring by themself, the team did.

and who the heck was that guy that lauded kobe for speaking fluent italian? big deal, the guy was raised in italy. iverson is a one man wrecking crew and kobe is a cancer on his team. I forsee the lakers self-destructing with shaq leaving cuz hollywood isn't for him... and iverson's hip hop image has nothing to do with his game on the court.

Iverson: 13 Votes
Kobe: 9 Votes
Webber: 2 Votes
Spree: 1 Vote
Carter*cough*: 1 Vote

But the poles are still open.

P.S. How do I start a real poll? you know where you guys actaully pick from a list.

I don't have to be a golden age thinker to figure it out.....

"I carry a gun"
"I go to practice when I want to"
"screw you coach, I am the one making 50mil, not you"
"I can't handle following the team rules, trade me"

Let me see, who exemplifies these sayings....Bird, Magic, Dr. J, Iverson??

Iverson is a punk wannabe gangster, plain and simple......just because there are a lot of youngsters who think acting like that is cool, just look at the NBA ratings recently.......and don't get me wrong, I hope Iverson can make some changes because he does have game, but it takes more than that to be the man....

"iverson... he has to adjust his attitude though "

His attitude is not even a question this year. He has done everything that is expected of him. And whether you like it or not, he is right now, "THE BEST PLAYER IN THE GAME".

as a franchise player i'd take kobe over iverson, but if i could take any player it'd definantly be shaq, garnett, and duncan in that order.

linh, ur response is off topic...you'd draft a big man because of the limited supply of big men. iverson doesn't carry a gun, he attends practice, and he respects larry brown.
you're just stereotyping. shame on you... why don't we talk about mark chamura or something...he's a criminal...not iverson...
bird magic and dr j were all great and innovated for their time, but nowadays, students of the game study the old school moves and build upon that... and I've never seen any of those guys on film bust any one off the dribble as badly as iverson does to people...that's a side note :)
bird magic and dr j were also all different players...each good at what he did...bird shoot, magic pass, dr j inside game... iverson is a cutter/slasher and you really can't compare their skills against one another...but overall...iverson is still young and he will mature... but for now, i thk he is the man, you think his skills are all raw? I bet those skills come from hours and hours of practice dood so respect him plz.

I am stereotyping? Not that I really care, and I don't want to trash this thread, but do you read the news? No contest to concealed weapon's charges? No, he has never carried a gun. No, he has never had any conflicts with Larry Brown. Why do you think Phily was seriously considering trading Iverson if he really was "all that"? This year he does seem to be making some changes for the better though. Once he starts respecting his coaches and teammates, maybe he will earn the respect that you think he deserves......

Jmman sounds like to me you just have personal issues with Iverson. Bird has a 20 year old daughter out of wedlock that he doesn't even acknowledge. It took 18 years before we find out about Dr J's love child. And Magic was having wild sex parties and eventually got the HIV virus that causes AIDS. Iverson has had his bumps but so have many others. So what he had a gun, many athletes and high profile coaches have guns. Yea he was being stubborn and missing practice but he's working to clean up his act. Give the young man a break, I am sure when you were his age you were out late a time or two and didn't make it work on time or didn't go at all. We all were young and dumb at one time. Some just take more time to mature than others. :)

I can't believe some of you are actually voting for Vince Carter. He has done NOTHING for the Raptors. They still suck. The only thing they have acomplished is to have a winning record against the best team in the NBA, the Sixers. But in the last game Carter only played two minutes, so you can't even give him credit for that.

I definately agree with people saying that they would take Shaq first if they could pick a team. Shaq SHOULD be unstopable. He SHOULD score 50 points a game and have 20 assistes every night. He SHOULD block 10 shots a game. He has size, speed, and strength that no other NBA player can compare with. So don't ask me why he doesn't do any of those.

As far as Iverson's attitude goes, he has cleaned up so much. Most of the trouble he was getting in was becuase of his buddies. Now that he is hanging out with the other players he hasn't gotten in any trouble. He was even seen hanging out with Todd McCaulloh(sp?).

And I agree that Kobe probably does have more potiential, but who knows if he will realize that potiential. Even Iverson has a lot of room to grow. With his speed and vision, imagine the passes he'll be pulling out his ass. Jason William will be looking to him for pointers.

About the poll, I don't know how to start a real one. Any assistance would be appreaciated.

This is a simple one fellas.

Kobe's "clean cut", intelligent, worldly image, is more marketable than Iverson's tatooed, rappin', bad boy image. AI has been in and out of trouble since the infamous bowling alley incident in high school.

They are both great players, but I give my vote to AI because his team is playing better and he has a much worse supporting cast. Kobe is blessed to play with Shaq, the Laker's couldn't win a title without the big man.

<< Kobe is blessed to play with Shaq >>

Kobe is blessed to play with Shaq, but that's where the buck ends. Every other Lakers is inconsistent. The Lakers don't even have another player averaging over 10 a game, while the Sixers have Ratliff, Snow, and McKie. Anyone who think Iverson deserves MVP rather than Chris Webber does not know basketball.

MVP CWeb?? Maybe, but Iverson deserves it more IMO, Eric Snow was out for half of the season, Matt Geiger was out, but who has the best record in NBA?? Yes West has more competition, but Iverson played tough and Philly don't have that much supporting cast as Sacramento. Other than Theo Ratliff, Aaron Mackie and Eric Snow, Philly really don't have that much fire power. But the Kings have two very good point guards in Bobby Jackson and Jason Williams, decent center in Vlade Divac, good shooters in Stojakovic and Doug Christie, they are a much more complete team from top to bottom than Philly. CWeb is good, no question about it, but Iverson have to play with less support. Plus this season he is a a better floor leader, and is better in listening to his coach, he has done much to improve his act.

Kobe right now is a distraction rather than a good player to Lakers. Lakers is and should be Shaq's team, but Kobe is taken that away from Lakers. He got skills, but still a dominant guy like Shaq should get the ball first, and Kobe's ego just can take that. Let's see how this will all play out, but now in the west, at least the Kings and Blazer is better than Lakers, so don't tell me Kobe is MVP right now, he is not even close.

Vince Carter...haha, other than dunk and show off, what else can he do?? Even his cousin McGrady is better than he is now!!

<< The Lakers don't even have another player averaging over 10 a game >>

That is a result of Kobe's selfish play, moreso than the lack of support. I'd guess that no other Laker gets even 7 shots a game (while Kobe's taking 23 shots :disgust:). There's NO REASON why Rick Fox, Robert Horry, and Isaiah Rider don't average double figures.

Let's see how well Shaq and Co. do tonight against San Antonio. Kobe will probably not play due to injury.

Leading MPV candidates

1. Webber
2. Iverson
3. J. Kidd ??? (big drop off from #2)

Sorry, but that just doesn't make sense. Allen Iverson throws up 30-40 shots a night, while his teammates can easily get over 10 a game. Kobe Bryant and Shaq takes alot of shots because they are talented and can create thier own shots. The other players can't. Kobe has been averaging close to 8 assists a game in the last few games since the allstar break, that's not selfish, yet he and Shaq are the only ones that score points.

"Rasheed Wallace all the way!!!"

I hope you are joking. The only way Rasheed will ever win MVP is if technical fouls become an official stat or he cleans up his attitude. Guess which will happen first?

p.s. I would say NONE of this to Rasheed's face. That guy has a stare that can kill.
