Poll: Best University of California

It depends what major you want to be and specifically what field you want in the major also. You should attend the school that will maximize your pay after college.
 
If you don't mind political activists running around the place preaching their ideas, then Berkeley is definitely the best. Academically, it's hands down the best overall among UCs, and the Bay Area atmospohere is also something unique and special.



 
Well, I just applied and this is my priority order:

Berkeley
San Diego
LA
Davis

UCSD IMHO is a better school technology wise then LA.

But IMHO, I'm at UCSD rite now and i think it is rather nice here.. not a lot going on, but nice.
If you think you can handle the workload, go berkeley... otherwise go UCSD. UCLA good, but there's a lot of people at UCLA, so be prepare to disappear into the crowd.

And Berkeley is definitely ranked up there in general, and through their computer programs.
 
i would go to berkeley if you're gonna to some CS or EE related field. Just hope that you didn't check the &quot;undecided/undeclared&quot; box when you were applying, cause it's a b!tch to apply for hte major once you're in the university. but seriously, don't expect a very social environment here at berkeley....IMHO, it's not that great. 🙁
 
for undergraduate, only reputation matters... much of which depends on whether or not the school has a DIVISION 1 football and basketball team. those schools are obvious. however, both UCLA and UC berkeley have actually been getting worse, and other UC schools will be more reputable within the decade... so in 30 years.. UC DAVIS will be sounding much better than UCLA

for graduate work.. (and there is only like a 5% chance that you will do it, no matter how commited you think you are)... go with the school with the best graduate program for that field of study.. example: nuke engineering= berkeley (lawrence livermore labs)

but the main thing is... the popular schools' hype doesnt mean much..

i personally think that a school like UC DAVIS is kind of forgotten.... meanwhile, it has amazing projects going, and is getting huge grants for FUTURE technologies... engineering, physics, and especially medicine... so i definitely think uc davis will be extraordinary in a decade...
 
UCLA or UC Berkeley. UCSB looks nice, but school ain't that great. UC Davis - go there and you'll die of boredom. Looks like UC just build a really nice school (Davis) and then dumped it in the middle of nowhere.
 
Like DDCSpeed said, depends on your major.

UCI has good performing arts, Biological Sciences, Organic Chemistry, and Information Computer Science.

Don't know specifics for other campuses
 
I'm assuming you mean undergraduate program UCs.

Everyone always forgets SF 😛

And Merced just opened up too, didn't it?
