Charcoal pwns gas in flavor...but gas pwns charcoal in prep time and clean up. If you grill all the time, go gas. If you grill 5-10 times per summer, go charcoal.
Lump charcoal on a Big Green Egg. Lump charcoal burns alot cleaner than briquettes/leave less ash so you don't have to clean up after every burn unless you do something like a 24 hour pork shoulder
