Should probably head down to KFC and get a family size bucket for myself or something ;) Any way, my BMI at the moment is 18.1

Wow, I don't think that anyone here can ever complain again. You have stolen my favorite past time.

Mine is 19.5 but that is most definately NOT normal. I consider that underweight. Well, I guess its normal for me but not normal when looking at the entire population.

I've been lifting for 3 years and can't gain any weight...I'm growing in size and definition...doing like 8 reps...5 sets per exercise...I've done everything from going 5 days a week to every other day to going monday teusday thursday friday
that and I eat more than anyone you would ever imagine...most people eat a steak for dinner...I eat 3...
most people eat a sandwich I eat 4, a salad, an apple, an easy mac, a few slim jims, a pack of fruit snacks
most people split tuna helpers that serve for...I eat a whole thing in one sitting...I can't friggin gain weight...although I did all of a sudden jump up from 150-160 over the last month...that took 3 years...and it wasn't gradual...it was a sudden jump..
Nobody can gain 1.5 pounds of muscle a week for any sort of long period of time. However I could easily gain 1.5 pounds of fat a week if I wanted. That's not even 1000 calories a day above my break even. NO problem, baby! I maintain at about 2500. If I eat what I want when I want I generally end up eating 3500-4000, but if I try I can easily hit 5000.

CARZY D and SKOORB. Check out Arnold's encyclopedia of bodybuilding from any library. In addition to thousands of other topics (it's over 1000 pages) they talk about different body types. They include Mesomorphs, ectomorphs and endomorphs. A mesomorph is the type of body which is husky and has little problem gaining MASS quickly. They also comprise about 90% of all body builders becasue it's so easy for them to gain mass. The one probelm they have though is definition and stamina which ecto's are noted for. So they stave when clsoing in on compition almost to unhealthy levels. They are also the guys you're very jealous of if you ever had one as a workout partner. The Endomorph is sort of better discribed as pudgy but very stong.. think sumo guys and some power lifters. Thier fat is softer (less dense) too than a mesos. and Finally the Ectomorph is the kinda guy we all hate but he hates himself to for opposite reasons. He can eat anything and stay thin as a rail. Does'nt have to workout and keeps high hemocrit levels which accounts for his endurance for arobic activity. But no matter how hard he lifts he can't gain mass is sizeable quanities. My feeling is you either an edno or and endo-ecto mix which is why you think 1.5lbs a week is un-achivable.. Sorry but genetic do play a signifigant part to body type and achivable profile.

Now as a ATOT member I'm of course a Mesomorph:) In HS I went from 165 to 210 in 9 months all muscle and 1" of height from wrestling to football season. It's not hard if you workout properly for your body type. If your interested in gaining lemme know. I am fairly familar with most workouts for you're desired results.

hey, in college, I was 135 lbs and 5'8"... I ate a lot but never gained any weight.. i play a lot of sports though. Anyhow, one day, I got serious and started lifting 4-5 days a week. I was lifting big weights (FULL body, from neck down to calves)... and the key for me was eating the big breakfast (egg/cheese/meat/burrito) in the morning. Eating snacks (powerbar or sumething) for most of the day even though I was not hungry. In about five months, I ballooned up to 164 lbs.. my body fat was higher then I'd like.. about 15-16%.. but I was a whole lot stronger (ie: i bench 260 max - 2 reps ). Oh yea, I avoided playign basketball also because I exerted a lot of energy doing so which I felt was what caused me to stay thin. Anyhow, I got lazy and stopped working out and lost my appetite and my weight dropped back down to 143 lbs after a year and I started getting comment from friends/family.. why are you so skinny.. is something wrong with you.. and then.. one of my favorite female friends said.. hey Eric, you look kinda skinny.. so about three months ago, I went back to my lift big/ eat big routine w/ some slight changes. Instead of eating burrito for breakfast, I take a slimfast (less cholestrol, more nutrients) and a promax bar inbetween before lunch. I eat a big lunch, and take another promax bar (they taste good w/ lotsa protein) before I leave work to go lift weights @5:30pm, I usually eat chicken/rice/lotsa juice(calcium fortified.. :p) for dinner. My weight lifting routine is about the same... i do different body segments each day to give time for rest but work top to bottom. This time around, I have been monitoring my weight on my palm pilot. It's very interesting how I gain weight.. I gain about 5 lbs in 2 weeks and then I stop for 2 weeks and then I gain another 5 in 2 weeks. I am on a flat right now but according to the trend, I will be gaining weight starting next week again.. hehe.. I will decrease my intake after I hit 170lbs though and try to maintain it (hopefully playign sports won't hurt the gain).. my waiste is @ 32".. although I fit 30" waist @ 144 easy but it's tight right now. Here's a paste of my progress:

edit: forgot to mention in drink a ton of water during the day ~8+ cups - it helps when eating the bars..

I used to scour the crap out of arnold's encyclopedia. A lot of it is grossly outdated now but it was still a good read for somebody who didn't know anything about working out when I started.

I suppose if you're a teenager or have been in a coma for 5 years you could put on muscle at that speed for a while, but if you're of any real size you won't be able to pack on 75 pounds of muscle in a year unless you're on a scientifically perfect diet of performance enchancing chemicals.

if anyone wants a donation of slightly used (but heavily jiggled;)) body fat, I accept money orders and paypal. Contributions to the Amigaman Diet Foundation are also accepted.

"Luvly, dont EVEN call for other's to submit their pictures until you've got the balls to do the same. You continously talk about how pretty you are, how nice of a figure you have, how fantastic your eyes are, yet you are too 'afraid' to show your picture."

Huh? Where did I say that? I don't see any such statement in this thread! :p Hehehe! I'm messing with ya! ;)

Hahahaha! I appreciate your polite approach. I was scared Lucky had some super aggressive approach and was about to chew me.

Well, let me clear some things: I've never claimed that I have fantastic eyes. Never. I don't claim to be the prettiest, but I certainly have an above average facial look. Don't be such an exaggerator! ;)

However, I have claimed to have a nice figure. Now, hon', don't be blaming me for you missing out when I finally reached a compromise and posted something of me. You had so many chances here at AT and at FW. You missed the chances to see what I looked like. Sorry. But you cannot fault me anymore. Yes, I have my concerns . . . besides something like what Skoorb said, I have my personal concerns for personal reasons. So, seeing all of me won't happen.

"So, hun, dont be calling for others to do something when you wont do so yourself."

I just want to see how well built they are. That's all. :Q I have shown mine before! It ain't my fault that you missed out, despite the many chances you had to catch up! Besides, this is about guys, not gals! :p

Wow! Carbonyl, thanks for the much useful info. I have learned something there! :D

P.S.: Technically speaking, muscular people are overweight. So the BMI is right. It's just that they have a healthy overweight.

Ah, you are correct. I misenterpreted a thread at another forum. My deepest and sincerest apologies that I portrayed you incorrectly. :)

5'6" and 155=24.4

Normal

for me.....and I'm 48 so I feel pretty good about myself (weight wise at least!)

Hahaha! Nice one, Lucky! :D Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! I can understand that point of view, though. Even I doubt some people many times.

Thanks for your understanding, nonetheless.

No offence, Bonk102, but that doesn't sound anything like skinny for a guy that height. It has to all muscles not to be fat; otherwise it's fat.

This thing is way off. The bottom of the "normal" scale for someone 6'5" is 156 pounds. 6'5" 156 is NOT normal. It is grossly underweight.

I'll admit I have a little bit more body fat % than I'd like and/or is normal - only about an extra 3-5% or so but I'm happy with where I am

I'm at 25/26, and I really need to lose a good 10 lbs.

I went to the Doctor and he told me I was overweight. I told him I wanted a second opinion.
He said "OK, you're ugly too."

I'm right at the line between normal and overweight

6'0" & between 175-181 depending on if I've run that day or eaten yet. I am pushing a 38" waist though, so I'm trying to loose some of the fat around my belly.
