dude, are you ignorant? did i not say that UNLESS you WORK OUT and are BUILT, then you are probably fat? are either ed coan or bill kazmeier inactive? GO AWAY. listing EXCEPTIONS like power lifters, body builders, and other ATHLETES does NOT prove you right. sh!t, you probably think that tom arnold is in GREAT chape.

I can't believe the ignorance in this thread.

Just for an extreme example, Ed Coan, one of the greatest powerlifters of all time is 5'6" and usually weighs in at about 240 -245 and has a very low body fat percentage.

Bill Kazmaier, winner of the World's Strongest Man 3 times in a row, (1980, 1981, and 1982), is 6' 2" and at one time weighed 330 lbs. with just 7% body fat.

6' and 200 lbs isn't very big or muscular at all, but skinny kids aren't going to understand that I guess. Judging someone by height and weight alone doesn't mean squat.

edit: a few Kaz pics for everyone

no fat here

or here

and he's still in great shape

Maybe if he layed off the weights every now and then he wouldnt be such an asshole. Besides, I'd be irate too if I had to eat tuna all day, every day. :D Can we say pork chops? Steak? Mmmm chocolate? Spare ribs!!! Chicken Wings!!!

(Can you tell I dont like meatheads much?)

EXACTLY. *YOU* work out. there's a REASON why you weigh more than average. the BMI doesn't apply to athletes. i fully agree. but for the average inactive and sedentary person, it's prety goog.

and it's not like it doesn't have a pretty broad range. the safe range for my height spans about 30lbs. the farther you deviate from that NORM, the fatter you probably are.

In college I was 5' 9" and about 200-205 and I was in the best shape of my life. 17" guns, 46" chest, 33 waist, and yes I could see my stomach muscles. The BMI is garbage for most atheletes like weightlifters and football players. I would be willing to wager that over 80% of the NFL would be overweight or obese by the BMI standards.

That being said, Today I am weigh in at about 245 which puts in the overweight category in my book, down from the 270 I was at the begining of the year.

As usual, the silly stuff gave me a 17.8.

I don't care what those numbers say adn what those so-called experts say. I know my body just very well . . . too well. If I should add more weight, I know where it will be going. And they wouldn't be the ones to rescue me if my hips, behind and calves got big. :Q LOL! :D

actually, you have a BMI of 24. that's NORMAL. you'd have to weigh 215lbs+ to be considered obese. you're pretty much my size/shape.

No offence, Tuffguy, but are you trying to act as the forum's fitness expert? I don't mind paying for personal lessons. :Q

Hey, Tuffguy, Amused One, and the rest of you guys claiming to be "built", please send your pics my direction. I'll be the judge! ;) I have only seen one male on this forum with a good build. But then again, you guys claiming to have an all-built muscle, I would like to *ahem* see it. Send it to to the following address. . . . :Q :D

My brother's 6' 9" and weighs 255 Lbs. It's all muscle and he's not a large frame. And his BMI is 27.3 according to that calculator. We all know muscular people are taken care of. :Q :p

26.7. I'm fine. I don't need a half-ass system of weight where everyone is supposed to have the same build tell me how healthy I am.

hehehe. nah. just a guy who went from 195lbs to 149lbs and now at 170lbs (schoolownzme) who did his homework along the way. taking bio courses alongside my engineering courses didn't hurt either. i just hate it when people immediately bash the BMI and start listing random examples like arnold and kaz. i mean, for my height the safe range is 140-190lbs. that's a lot of body types. and a lot of leeway fatwise.

heck, i'm not fat, but i know what my body looks like at 150lbs and at 170lbs. 20lbs is not a lot of weight, but it can sure mask a lot of definition. for me, it's the difference between seeing the full 6-pack, the striations is the shoulders, and the horseshoe in the triceps.

Luvly, dont EVEN call for other's to submit their pictures until you've got the balls to do the same. You continously talk about how pretty you are, how nice of a figure you have, how fantastic your eyes are, yet you are too "afraid" to show your picture.

So, hun, dont be calling for others to do something when you wont do so yourself.

<-------- 5'10", 170 = 24.4

I'm medium frame, somewhat stocky. I'm not overweight in the slightest, nor am I "beefy".

This is a cheezy test because muscle weighs more than fat, and there's no guage for the differences in people's bone structure either.

For the guy who gains 1.5 lbs a week...
how the f*ck...
I've been lifting for 3 years and can't gain any weight...I'm growing in size and definition...doing like 8 reps...5 sets per exercise...I've done everything from going 5 days a week to every other day to going monday teusday thursday friday
that and I eat more than anyone you would ever imagine...most people eat a steak for dinner...I eat 3...
most people eat a sandwich I eat 4, a salad, an apple, an easy mac, a few slim jims, a pack of fruit snacks
most people split tuna helpers that serve for...I eat a whole thing in one sitting...I can't friggin gain weight...although I did all of a sudden jump up from 150-160 over the last month...that took 3 years...and it wasn't gradual...it was a sudden jump..

This is the most ridiculous crap ever made. I'm 6"3" 240#. 52 inch chest and 38 inch waist. According to this idiotic chart, I can't weigh over 200#. I couldn't smoke crack all day and weigh 200#.

I've seen what happens when you post pics on the net. The last thing I'd be doing would be posting pics with my shirt off. People here would have a party doing all kinds of crazy crap to it :D

Nobody can gain 1.5 pounds of muscle a week for any sort of long period of time. However I could easily gain 1.5 pounds of fat a week if I wanted. That's not even 1000 calories a day above my break even. NO problem, baby! I maintain at about 2500. If I eat what I want when I want I generally end up eating 3500-4000, but if I try I can easily hit 5000.

for every 3500 calories you do not burn at the end of the day turns into 1lb of fat....

that is a lot of calories if you are like me and burn an average of 1,800 calories when not exercising.

I found this tool to be very helpful.

it says I burn 4079 calories a day and I burn 1715 resting doing nothing...thats probably right average...cuase I prolly eat about htat mayn calories...
Theres crap I averaged like I lift every other day for like 3 hours and I just averaged that to 90 minutes a day...and it said what do you do and I figured I climb 14ners on the weekends and that takes like 6 hours so I averaged that out to 45 minutes a day of mountaineering...
