2 seconds/ firebird/ DSL/ Atlanta
7 seconds/ IE 6/ DSL/ Atlanta

20 seconds/ firebird/ 56K
2+ minutes/ IE6/ 56K

Moral 56k + IE + zipzoomfly ads = sucks

10Mbps capped on an OC3 with an actual bandwidth of about 8Mbps, it takes 3 seconds.

It takes FOREVER on my 56kbps at home (loads top banner and background in 3-5 seconds then eternity begins).

Somewhat better at work. HardOCP, Beyond3D, Tom's all take 4-6 seconds. TR takes about 1/2 a second.

Anandtech takes 15-30 seconds to load with the top banner and background loading in about 1 second.

Ohio - Road Runner (last time I talked to the IT guy)

I'm in Minnesota and it takes 20+ seconds to load the front page. It will goto (Not Responding) for a bit and then finally load up. After that, it's pretty quick.

Just did it - cleared cache and went to page - 3 seconds for whole page. Alabama, cable connection, firebird .7 for the browser.

Around 30 secs. It's the zipzoomfly that stalls everything.

Connected with a 100 Mbps in norway (uninett aka the uni network in norway). 400 students with a 2 Gbps full duplex at their dorm is nice :)

at least 30 seconds every time. Initially it hung on some long url starting with akamai or something. Now it stalls on /zipzoom/1.html. Only happens after a cache dump.

On RR cable in Milw, WI

I don't get this at all. I only get the lag on the front page. Even after clearing the cache.

Almost everything (except the picture icons for the articles and some other graphics in the main section) loaded within 1-2 seconds....
then I waited another 30+ seconds before the IE status bar reported "Done."

While I waited all I saw was:
".../Zipzoom/2.html" and
".../Zipzoom/1.html"

I live in Portland Oregon and use Comcast Cable

Well this morning it wouldn't load anything but the bar at the top & a grey background in IE6sp1.
I cranked up Netscape7, and it loads the page.

OK
now it loads, it just says it's finished & I have to wait another 4-5 seconds for the page to appear.
