what is the reason for open carrying?

Did you not read my post?

It is for protection. As I said, mainly used when out camping/hiking for protection from wildlife. I usually don't go all over town with it or anything.

For me open carry = legal, concealed carry = illegal. I would love to concealed carry, but since I cannot legally do it, I don't. At some point I probably will get a CCW though.

attempted to troll the cop and failed spectacularly is my guess.

Exactly what it looks like to me. Dude strapped his gun on and grabbed a camera hoping be the next YouTube police victim. So awesome to see a cop who knew his stuff and was respectful.

Isn't that extortion?

How is that extortion? There's no monetary or property gain in this instance. Not that I am defending what the prosecutor is doing, he's just bluffing with a shitty hand of cards.
Here's how it looked over on the other site:

All true folks. The case is actually about a month old. I've been waiting to verify what I was told before posting anything, because I had a hard time believing it too. But, I watched it all. At the first pretrial, the prosecutor offered to dismiss all charges for a release of liability (promise they wouldnt be sued). I refused their offer. My guy is a mild-mannered 50 some year old man, not some younger mouthy stud.

whats that mean?
I would guess...Learn To Link Brah

And cop in the OP needs to get his ass handed to him, seriously what the hell was he worried about anyway? The people who are licensed to carry are infinitely less likely to be the ones to shoot his dumb ass

That is just insane that a person like that is even a police officer. He threaten to put his gun to the man's head and then execute him. Even a guilty thug criminal deserves better than that. The guy tried to tell the officer he had a gun, but the cop was more interested in trying to be a big man on campus. He should be fired and brought up charges of making terroristic threats.

I agree with this.

But not with this, depending on what said thug is guilty of.

A police officers job is not to threaten a person with execution. And any fool can see this guy was not a bad dude at all.

What's with so many asshole cops in the states? Sure we probably have them here too, but not to the point where these scenarios occur daily. If they did this crap here they'd probably be fired. At the end of the day, they are regular citizens and simply have the duty of enforcing the law. They are not the law.

we have millions of cops. based on % alone you are going to have bad ones. With the amount of cameras and cell phones out we are just getting more video.

From what I could find with a few seconds on Google:
wiki.answers.com said:
There are as of 2006, 683,396 full time state, city, university and college, metropolitan and non-metropolitan county, and other law enforcement officers in the United States

http://www.statcan.gc.ca said:
As of May 15, 2006, Canada had almost 62,500 police officers

I'm sure there are a few bad apples in Canada too, but with over ten times as many officers, we're bound to have more bad ones.

If you were the second cop and witnessed the first cops tirade, how would you have reacted?

I didn't watch the whole video, but it seems they were separated for a lot of it. Best bet would be to try to take over dealing with the driver. However, if the primary officer was above the other guy on the totem pole, it could end terribly...he doesn't seem like the kind of person who you'd be able to say 'Relax, let me take this' to.

He threatened to kill the guy. That doesn't warrant an arrest?

And the District Attorney offered to drop all the charges in exchange for the victim not suing... yuck.
