The guy started to tell him, but got all fuddled up. Looks to me like the guy fuddled himself up more than the Cop did, as the guy started to say it then wondered off on a tangent. The Cop over reacted for sure, but I think he had reason to doubt the Drivers story, since it appears the Driver and Passenger were likely picking up a Hooker.

Yeah, this looks fairly indefensible on the part of the officer. He just comes off as a hotheaded, ignorant bully. I find all of his threats, including threats to "execute" the driver, to be an adequate basis for the department to fire his ass.

Looks to me like the guy was picking up a hooker and deserved to be possibly ticketed for that. But the rest of that is just sickening. Police like that should be fired.

DAMN.

I really want to know where this officer is right now: if he's still driving a squad car, we're all fucked.

The other part of this we haven't touched on is that it appears the officer searched the car without consent - hard for me to see how he had any reasonable basis to believe there would be evidence of a crime in the car.

If he just shot him when he had the chance, he would have just been given vacation with pay for a few months until things cooled down and he could go back to work.

I think he would state that the guy "hid the fact he had a weapon on him" and thus he was searching the car because it was used in the commission of a crime.

Or some bullshit.

Or some bullshit.

He started searching before he knew about the gun. He just started climbing around in the backseat with no apparent basis for probable cause.

I disagree with open carry because of the drama it causes. But it is a right.

Some reasons for open carry:
Person can't get a CCW because of the rules where they live. They still want a gun for protection. It takes all of 2 seconds to load an unloaded weapon. Not good if the bad guy is sticking a knife in you but fine if the bad guy starts with someone else.

Peron is trying to make a political point. The Constitution names guns as a right. Some people don't want their rights infringed upon and will make it a point to exercise that right. No one right is any better than another. If someone tried to take away free speech rights, someone would fight for that. If someone tried to take away the right of free assembly, someone would fight for that...

The SCOTUS has ruled that we have a right to defend ourselves with guns. If you can't get a CCW, the only thing left is open carry. Lots of people feel that because of the SCOTUS ruling, that if open carry is banned, CCW will become shall issue.

Most people that are afraid of guns are ignorant of guns. It's just a tool. Whether that tool is used to put holes in paper or stop a bad guy from harming someone is up to the individual. I know I am glad our forefathers had access to them. And you'll wish you had one if Obama defaults on our debt.

It's better to have water and not need it than to need water and not have it.
It's better to have a seat belt and not need it than to need a seat belt and not have it.
It's better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.

Don't worry, he'll be put on leave with pay for a few months while they "investigate". Nice little vacation.

What an asshole. That cop needs to take some lessons from this cop.

What I love is how that cop was cool as shit even when the other guy is a complete dick. This guy deserves to get treated worse because hes a total asshole, where as the guy in the OP seems like the most gentle person ever and gets the asshole cop.

Very consistent world we live in.

The police chief has sided with the people against the corrupt thug:
Chief Dean McKimm said:
I want to assure our citizens that the behavior, as demonstrated in this video, is wholly unacceptable and in complete contradiction to the professional standards we demand of our officers. As such, appropriate steps were placed in motion as dictated by our standards, policies and contractual obligations. Those steps included: The officer immediately being relieved of all duty. The incident has been referred to the Internal Affairs Bureau for what will be a complete and thorough investigation. As bad as the video indicates our officer's actions were, there is a due process procedure to follow. That process is designed in the best interest of both our employees and the citizens at large. That process will be followed in this case as in all others. Anyone shown to be in violation of our rules and regulations will be help appropriately responsible as dictated by all the facts.

Now let's see if anything actually comes of the investigation.

Good to see the department isn't trying to minimize what happened, which is what you often see in such cases. That was the perfect response to this situation.

cop owned him so bad, that was awesome

interesting that the person in the video can carry, but still does not have to identify himself in any way. how does that work? and why carry an unloaded weapon?
attempted to troll the cop and failed spectacularly is my guess.

The victim's lawyer posted the story about a week ago, before the video was released.

Apparently the district attorney intends to prosecute the victim unless he agrees to not sue the city. What a surprise, one worthless government tool abusing his power to protect another.

Isn't that extortion?
