Better than mine, I'm about to go pay for having motor mounts, transmission mount, and a wheel bearing replaced.

You'll put your eye out with that thing!!

Picked up a bottle of fake champagne fizzy juice off the table to open it (again) and have a bit. Cork let go and got my in the eyebrow with a glancing blow.

Missed me by THAT much Chief!

Had to stand frozen like a frickin' scarecrow for almost 10 minutes coz this hungry white "probably" persian stray cat was too timid and any movement from me caused it to dart off. It finished the food pellets I had thrown on the floor and then sat a while for who knows what. Went back to the place where the food pellets had been and tried to make sounds asking for more but weirdly, the sound was more like a purr mixed with a low growl.

I know my mind is slipping. Even little things are big things. I sometimes can't even describe a problem to try and figure out what to do about it. Sometimes I just walk away from something and don't even try to figure it out.

Uh... maybe you want to consider giving the mods some kind of contact info so someone can check on you if you disappear for a while? I get the impression you don't necessarily have someone else to keep an eye out?
I mean, obviously the FedEx guy is not an option ;)

Ridley Scott owes us a Gladiator vs Predator (or even Gladiator vs Predator vs Alien) cross-over movie.

Sometimes you have to walk away from something, then the solution comes to you when you least expect it. Used to happen all the time back when I was running my game server. Couldn't figure out why some code was not working, then it would come to me at like 4am when I'm in bed.

Why is there almost no Streetview coverage in the whole of Alaska? There's like one road done, and barely even any of those "photospheres". How am I supposed to do my globetrotting sight-seeing tours when there's no coverage?

Lewis and Clark did not have Streetview.

.... when you realize you've been shopping at your local big box store longer than some of the new employees have been alive.
Yeah maybe the world should take a 10 year break from making babies. When the world stops being selfish and starts thinking about the ones already here instead of bringing more, maybe we will have a chance at being decent?

If replying to a long-defunct thread is a "necro", what's the term for what I just accidentally did - clicking on a still-active thread but replying to an early post, that was posted several years ago and about something the thread has long since moved on from?

(not helped by the way this forum sometimes goes to the start of a thread when you click on it, and sometimes to the end).

Is that an "internal necro"?

I was reviewing my amazon reviews, and looked at the one I did for heinz malt vinegar(5* you won't find better for a reasonable price), clicked on the product link without really paying attention, and it's a different brand than I reviewed...

I don't know wtf that is, but it's not what I reviewed, and my review is attached to it. It /could/ be made by heinz under contract, but it doesn't say that anywhere in the listing. I'm glad I mentioned the name heinz in my review. I hope people catch that. It's bullshit that my review is on a product I have no idea about.

I've seen a number of different things on Amazon where the review is clearly for a different item than what the listing says it is, and items I've saved for later that somehow turn into different items. Not sure what the mechanism is that allows a merchant to just update a listing to be a different product, but definitely speaks to the level of enshittification at Amazon over the years.

Breakfast

Two eggs, fried with turkey sausage, a slice of cheese melted over them and placed on two slices of whole grain bread with thousand island dressing.

Thinking about taking up sling throwing. I've had the idea for awhile, and now feels like the right time to learn. Found these plans on a random search, and it looks easy enough. Just need to dig up some leather I squirreled away somewhere.

I'd be curious to hear what level of accuracy you can pull off.

I'll report back. I suspect it's a steep learning curve to get good. I think good slingers were very accurate back when it was a standard weapon of warfare.

Once I get a feel for it, I may be able to incorporate it into treework. Might be useful for getting a throwbag into a tree. Maybe not too. I could see the throwline getting tangled in the sling. Have to try it and see.
