I've got nothing against piracy to a certain extent (sharing games with friends, making copies of your cds for friends ... etc) But profitting from piracy angers me. I would report them to ebay or I would bid on their auction, and not pay for it. People hate non paying bidders.

Uncle Ben, noooooooo!!!!!!!

But seriously, I don't buy or download infringing materials but I don't see infringement as entirely black-and-white.

People have justifications for "stealing" from RIAA and MPAA companies that have some merit, especially given those companies' price fixing, lack of an ethical replacement policy for damaged discs, lack of ethical treatment of artists and actors, and attempts to prevent consumers from making backup copies and encoding for devices like MP3 players.

If it were you, no problem. :p

Moron. Getting "involved" can get you killed.

A citizen's DUTY in that (extreme) case - UNLIKE this "probable piracy" one - is to call the police and try to remember dsetails of the crime and serve as a witness. ;)

EDIT: And in your terrible extreme example, perhaps the man was retreiving HIS purse from the woman thief.

Wow... justification at its best, folks!

If he just stole their purse, I wouldn't do anything except maybe give a statement when the cops arrived. If he hit her in the face first, then I'd have to do my best to to beat his ass to a pulp.

yes, because that's EXACLY the same thing.

Why, we're all the scum of the earth for not personally flying over to China, seeking out the vendors of pirated goods, and burning their stands down. How dare we just sit back and let it happen, even if there's absolutely no way we can even come close to stopping .01% of it from taking place, no matter how hard we try?

Which is better than sitting there on your ass knowing some fool's gonna get ripped off in that kind of situation and not doing anything about it.

Perhaps YOU would be helping a thief.

And your moronic case is UNrelated to this e-bay situation (anyway). :p

I see. So this person selling stuff on ebay is delivering it to these people and clocking them over the head?

Man, you guys have absolutely NO imagination. And no idea how good it feels to be fighting the good fight, either, apparently.

Wow, comic book heroism. :p

Most of us have our own lives to lead and prefer not to meddle in other people's lives. Most anyone will do the right thing when called upon or circumstances necessitate, but it's also not our job to babysit our fellow man and making sure they're clean behind the ears.

Unless they're Elite, postcount and rank mean nothing.
