Home definitely is boring, at least right now it is. It's got great potential. However, trying to nickel and dime for virtual appliances and stuff like that isn't cool. I'm hoping they include some kind of deal later where if you get a certain number of trophies they give you a virtual plasma tv or something like that.

here's a funny conversation i saw between two avatars:

guy avatar: hello there, what's your name?
girl avatar: i'm a guy
guy avatar: that's gross man
girl avatar: you're the one that's gross, trying to hit on a man

lol

Haha. I've thought about creating a female in Home just to see how bad it really is.

From what I saw when I first got into the Home beta, female characters attracted male characters like ball bearings to a big, central magnet.

I wish I could just download all the seperate areas all at once, overnight.. instead of doing it piece by piece and having to visit each area. Such a pain. (And if there is a way to do this, please share!)

I've noticed this too. You have to redownload each area for every new session of Home. Why can't they just store them on your HD and only update if there's a new version.

Are you sure this is correct? I thought each area was a one-time download stored on the 3GB set aside when you first install Home. If that's not the case, Home is an even bigger failure than I thought originally, not being into Second Life and all.

I don't think Imported or Baked is correct. However, I do think Sony makes tweaks to each area from time to time, so if you're prompted to download an area again, it's changed somehow.

In the Home closed beta, I went back in 3 or 4 times at different intervals, and only had to redownload the Central Plaza once. All other areas (besides the theater, which I only visited once) didn't have to reload.

I meant that the first visit to any new zone prompts a download. I wish I could just download everything at once, perhaps overnight.. all 3GB worth that they needed or whatever.

Apparently voice chat is being "temporarily suspended":

Sony Computer Entertainment will conduct system maintenance for PlayStation Home on Thursday, December 18, 2008. At this time PlayStation Home will be updated from ver. 1.03 to 1.04. The system maintenance is scheduled to start at 12 midnight (PST), and the service is expected to resume in approximately 6 hours but may change depending on the circumstances. PlayStation Home will be unavailable during the maintenance window.

The reason for this maintenance is to ease the difficulty some people are having accessing PlayStation Home due to the high demand for the service.

Additionally, as part of version 1.04, the voice chat feature within PlayStation Home will be temporarily suspended. As soon as we are ready to resume the voice chat feature, we will inform you via PlayStation.com and PlayStation.Blog. In the meantime, we encourage users to make use of the Wireless Keypad for PLAYSTATION 3 or any USB or Bluetooth-enabled keyboard for text chat and also the ?phone friend? features to communicate within PlayStation Home.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and kindly ask for your understanding.
