Yea, thanks, I doubt you'd be saying the same thing if you ever saw me in person.
:hmm:
hahhahahahahahahahahaha

That is my thoughts exactly. In which case, I'd perfer a full computer sitting by my TV and a cordless keyboard. Because, well, in my case my TV is in front of my couch already.
I bench 250 and I weigh 195lbs.... so when I say heavy, I mean something that is not feasible to use for extended periods of time...
You think the ipad is heavy? Are you a girl? If not, go join a gym or something.
MJinZ, I'd probably be scared when I first saw you in person, but then I'd just throw an iPad at you and watch you crumble to the ground in a heap of tablet-y goodness.
You're not alone. We got a few at work to experiment with and heavy was the first thing most people came up with. The other issue is the ergonomics - I found myself hunching over it to type. Others twisted themselves in various ways to make it work but none looked comfortable full screen. You could carry around a stand and keyboard I guess, but in that case get a netbook instead of overpaying for a less capable iPad.
My summary - the first few days I took it home expecting to want to play with it off hours. It sat in the box. I haven't taken it home since.
I think the whole "it's a bigger iPod touch so it must be better" idea misses that one of the nice things about the iPod touch is that it's small and portable in your pocket.
I don't see myself using this...but i don't think the intended consumer of this product is likely the one visiting a tech site. I could see someone like my parents using this who use their PC's for little else than email and web browsing.
maybe you should bench press some iPads, nancy. :awe:Yup, love these comments from people who have not experienced the weight hands on. This is a device that is meant to be held, and unless it is feather light like a book, it will get very tiring very fast.
Though I wonder if the older ppl can get used to the soft keyboard. I think you have a point here, I think Apple hits the huge target of casual consumer with the iPhone and iPad, much like Nintendo targeted the casual gamers with Wii and DS and had great success, even though a lot of hardcore gamers dislike the Wii.

so, too heavy to use as a ping-pong paddle?
well, there go my plans for picking one up.![]()
I got one at work. The first comment after "OooooOooO!" is always "this is heavier than it looks". By about 50 people so far.
Clearly you work with a lot of women
