It would be wise to wait for a station cash sale before buying more. Also you can check the daily deals to see if it's something you want. I wonder if they'll have vehicle weapons on sale, I would like to get some for the lightning and MBT.

wait what?

Every now and then SOE has a X2 or even X3 station cash sale ($15 gets you 3000 SC under X2 or 4500 SC under X3 instead of the normal 1500 SC).

Players have also reported that you get the bonus if you turn in game cards during the sale too apparently.

As for vehicle weapons, yes they do go on sale every now and then. I purchased a vehicle weapon bundle and got a new gun for every vehicle

Looks like I missed the daily sale (dec 6) on the left buster for the MAX. oh well it wasn't high on my list. I don't remember the check the deals even when I play. What I want is the HE for the lightning but I don't stay alive for long in one so I'll wait for a sale or something.

A side note, if you buy cards at walmart you get a bonus 500 points for each $15 card. Not sure if this was suppose to be limited stock, but local one has about 50 cards still on peg hook with this offer "exclusive to wal-mart".

Are the daily deals only for SC purchases? Or do they reduce the cert cost as well? If so, damn. I'm saving my certs for that second burster right now.

where are they advertised?(the daily deals)

I was playing a heavy character with an unlocked semi-auto rifle with the night vision scope. Range on the scope is pretty crappy, but in a one on one firefight I usually come out ahead.

If you're playing Heavy you should ALWAYS come out ahead in a one-on-one firefight. Your personal shield is basically a get-out-of-jail free card.

It's just for SC. If you have the certs for it, might as well buy it now.

After hitting esc, pick the gold tab on the bottom, all the way to the right. The daily deal is on the top right of that tab. There's also a twitter feed.

GameStop also has an exclusive SOE card for Planetside. Its a 1500 SC card ($15) and it also unlocks the NS11 Platinum for the Medic class (700 SC to unlock in game).

I picked one up and I love the NS11 for my medic. As a NC player, and coming from playing mostly HA, it is a welcome change to have an accurate weapon and I have already soaked 360 certs into it

Anybody notice any performance improvements with the latest patch?

Speaking of patch - I'm pissed. I restarted the system, change display modes, gearing up to play... thinking I wouldn't have to download much if anything (since thus far patches have been so much better than BF3 patches).
And what is there to greet me? Oh, nothing but a 2.5GB patch.

At least it doesn't appear to be downloading too terribly slow. It's just large enough to make me sit here twiddling my thumbs far longer than I was prepared. Won't get much time to play before I need to get some sleep (up before dawn even rolls over, let alone show some crack as she rolls out of bed ... 3:30am if that wasn't clear 😛)
Task Manager is showing over 16Mbps... which is better than the 15Mbps the cable company says we get. 😀

Still twiddling. 🙁 1700MB left.

Man i would hate to have internet with caps, i would go over it within a week. lol I did not even notice the 2.5gig patch it downloaded to fast 😀

I've got a very reliable 25 mbps here, and it wasn't coming down anywhere near that fast, so I think I was waiting on them.

The HAWK is rather useless now. Can't seem to hit air any more. The missile doesn't track well, had a lib out turn it D:

Remember, it patches inline as it downloads. When it says 2.5GB, it doesn't necessarily mean it's downloading 2.5GB either - it means there's 2.5GB of content to be patched. (But usually when it says a huge amount like that, it's redownloading some of the huge assets files anyway, so yeah, it's downloading MOST of that)

But what it does is download like 100MB here, then stop and patch one file, then another 20MB, stop, patch, 300MB, stop, patch, etc etc. That's why it never seems all that fast.

I was noticing that. Task Manager showed sudden drops to zero network utilization for a moment or two, then shot back to 16Mbps for a fair while before stopping again.

I think it does indeed "Download" all of that, but it downloads in chunks. I didn't really see the noted size change much when Task Manager dropped to zero (I had it open almost the entire time, focused on the Ethernet graph in the Performance tab).
Time to finish, when it was using my max connection almost the entire time, seemed just about what I'd expect. Moments where it wasn't downloading were very brief - having it installed on an SSD probably helped a lot in that regard).

Same thing with the Nemesis (Venu equivalent). In the process of trying to buff the weapons a bit they have completely broken them making them mostly worthless.

Rumor is that triple station cash will be happening next friday.

Sure, right before the world ends. Of course.
😀

But seriously, I hope so. I was pissed to find the sale yesterday for the first of 12 daily holiday sales was simply a damned helmet. Ugh.

Alright, so now I'm really beginning to wonder how I should progress with certs:
I am thus far planning to mostly play as an NC Engineer. I was rocking the stock rifle, but just bought the Gauss Compact S and am liking it so far. I have heard others prefer a few other rifles, like the AC-X11 for it's heavier punch (but it is slower), and then there's another that is basically a firehouse of rounds (with less punch), which seems preferred for the close quarter fights.
I just know I wasn't happy with the recoil on the default Engi carbine (for NC).

That said, I also like to rock with the Vanguard, sometimes the Lightning.

And I definitely like making use of the Engi class itself. I'll turret from time to time, but also repair a lot (both vehicles and Maxes) and drop ammo like crazy.

For the rifle, so far I've only got the 2x Red-dot sight. This one can also have under-barrel grenade launcher or shotgun, and I am looking into that at some point, but would rather improve the overall rifle in other ways. And I want to definitely spec out the Engi class and the tanks as well.

Just not sure where I should really sink certs first (already have improved the class some as well).

For that specific rifle/carbine (Gauss Compact S), is it that beneficial to get either the Compensator or Forward Grip, and if so, which one would be better?

Would it just be more beneficial to improve the Health bonus (what is it, Nanite something..?).
I've also looked into improving armor on the Vanguard, or one of the other overall improvements.

Or is it better to, first, get the mobile spawn cert on the Sunderer, and make heavy use of that in the meantime and quickly rebuild the number of certs?

imho, my first purchase, assuming it's still on sale next week, will be the 2000SC vehicle starter pack.

100mm HE for the Lightning == oof.
Rocket pods (Already bought those on my NC dude, but I may be rerolling VS elsewhere)
Bulldog and a whole buttload of other vehicle weapons.

It's basically worth it. It'll be even more worth it as soon as they implement account-wide unlocks.

I got that too - but some weapons didn't seem to unlock for every vehicle that uses it. It's like some vehicles have a "variant" that isn't included.

I didn't get a new secondary weapon for the Vanguard, for instance. I thought the one was included, half the reason I picked that up.

I had 4000SC from the 2x SC sale, and now have 800 left. I won't buy more until the 3x SC sale.

But overall that vehicle weapon pack was pretty nice. I haven't used every vehicle, none of the flyers...

and I'm not sure if I want the 100mm HE round on the Lightning or not. Great for infantry but is it just as effective against armored vehicles (as in, no more effective than 75mm), or is it even worse? It says less effective (due to it being an HE round, it makes sense), but with it being a larger armament, it could still end up being close in overall damage points to a smaller round... maybe.
