What a looooooooooooong weekend.
Sat at my PC looking for my PS2 beta icon knowing I uninstalled it, but still looking for it.

Can't wait til tomorrow.
 
Is a 2.26ghz C2D and an overclocked 9800m GTS enough to play this game with at least 30 FPS? Minimum quality, I don't mind dropping my resolution down, native is 1440x900. I can force dual IDA and clock the CPU at 2.4ghz as well.

I'm waiting on a case and a HDD to finish my desktop rig, gaming on my laptop in the meantime.

Game countdown says 19hours (nov 20th), steam says nov 20th. I'm assuming the launch will be the same on or off steam.

I'm also assuming there will be horrendous problems on launch day.

Theres no pre load.

I didn't want to reduce my network to a crawl if I won't be able to run it, huge download. It doesn't look like I'll be able to, I'm not even close on the CPU requirements.

I'd heard people the say that the "official" requirements aren't accurate at all. They list an nVidia 8600 series or higher for min. Mine is based off of a 9600GT core with slower clocks, which is faster than the 8600GT. But for AMD they say a 4850 is the min, which is much faster than an 8600 series, or the 9600GT for that matter, I'd need a 9800GTX+ to match it.

I've got a c2q6600@3ghz and an HD6970 and I'm pretty CPU bound most of the time.

I get 20s to 30s when its busy I guess. Thats at mediumish settings at 1920x1200.

I may upgrade my CPU for this game but I'll wait to see how the release candidate runs first.
 
There's a countdown timer on the PS2 homepage...looks like the game goes live at noon CST. (Fileservers will presumably implode at 12:10pm CST.)
 
Yeah I'm expecting all sorts of issues on launch day. I've already got my name reserved so I'm just going to wait a day or two.
 
i have a question, im probably gonna download it and try it

but i have a question...as it is a persistent world... if the game is about fighting over the dominion of different sectors in a continent, what would happen if 1 side has all the sectors and the other team has no way to recapture them?

the war ends and it resets? XD

It would be next to impossible to capture all three continents. If there were only two factions it might have had a chance of happening, but three factions keeps the action going. It takes a lot of manpower to take a continent, so that means less numbers on the other continents, which is where the other factions hit.

I only played for a few hours but there's 3 factions so ideally what happens is the 2 dominated factions do big pushes on 2 different fronts.
 
PlanetSide 2 Officially Launched!


The time is now just past 10am Pacific Standard Time (US) and PlanetSide 2 is now officially available for download! It's been an amazing ride from Smed's very first Tweet about PlanetSide "Next" through Fan Faire 2011 and up until now. It's sure to be an exciting day as Soldiers make their way into Auraxis for the first time on their new characters that won't be deleted from here on out!

With launch SOE has put up a brand new PlanetSide 2 Community Website and re-opened the official forums. You can hit up the PlanetSide 2 website to start your download.

of course the planetside 2 site is down. Of course planetside 2 has been removed from steam. Of course other planetside 2 websites are down.
