Well those videos made quite the impression on me. My only worries are lag with so many players battling it out on such a big play field, and how the whole thing comes together. Considering it's free to play, there's nothing holding me back from giving it a shot when it releases.

Yup I'll try it out and if I find people to play with and enjoy it, I'll throw in a few bucks.

So, who here played the original for a few months and got their BR up to 20 but for some inexplicable reason DID NOT LEAD SQUADS/PLATOONS and therefore had a Command Rank of 0 or 1 and subequently was like the ONLY DUDE WHO DIDN'T HAVE ORBITAL STRIKES???

{raises hand}

Have been keeping my eyes out for this (and Huxley, wtf?) for years... fingers crossed.

They actually had a beta for a game called Huxley a couple of years ago. Was it as they said the original Huxley was going to be? Not by a long shot. Instanced PvE.

I've been looking forward to PS2 for a while now but I had not actually watched any build videos. It's actually looking a lot closer to other modern FPS shooters in infantry gunplay but, ostensibly, will have the old MMO aspects and huge game world.

This could be awesome.

Looks great, really bringing back memories of my time playing PS when it came out. Hope it can recreate the same kind of vibe (even if I don't have nearly as much time to play any more).

I remember in the first Planetside they were going to have wildlife running around. I also remember screenshots of the alpha builds from the original Planetside.

Planetside Wildlife
One of the first towers in the game

My point is the alpha probably deals with the game play mechanics and not the look of it. As you can tell from these screenshots, what we got in Planetside was nothing like these.

Why? The whole point of Planetside is PvP. PvE would completely change the game.

just for some minimum base staffing

Im not talking about 100 AI on each theater or whatever

but I would enjoying trying to stealth take a base if there was SOME resistance instead of standing around and waiting in an empty one

So find a base that was being attacked. Use your unique ninja skills and ninja hack a base being assaulted. If you want stealth PvE, Splinter Cell is ----->

Ah....you know, I wouldn't call base defense AI "PvE". Technically it is, but if you use the word PvE people automatically think of tainting the game with mob killing quests like an RPG.

But I actually do think having a skeleton crew of AI defenses at bases to prevent easy 1 man caps in the middle of the night is a good idea.

I learned a long time ago to not learn to much about a game besides the basics or you grow to hate it because of all the annoying things you think you knew was wrong. 😀

I'm just going to jump in and learn as i go for that "oh i did not know that feeling". Instead of the "Oh that is how they did that, that is a total letdown!". 😛
