What about the peeps in the boats? Were they ferrying themselves across too?

The rowers and swimmers were damned souls...they couldn't cross over.

Will based on how the story ended will be ferrying souls forever, the 10 years was plain as day as the time between a single day's port call.

I see. Well, I think the sequeal (if there is one) should of course have Jack by himself looking for the Aqua de Vida. I don't know if any hot chicks would play in the film. Kierra Knightley is taken.

I saw it. I liked it a lot better than the 2nd one. I hate Legolas... the only good movie he's ever been in was LOTR, everything else he's in has been crap. He's just not a good actor at all.

I don't get the curse being broken after 10 years thing. That wasn't said at all in the movie... Jack Sparrow wanted to take Davey's place so he could live forever-- is that because he would go to shore for hookers instead of his true love??

Yeah, I thought that it was he comes back every 10 years, but he eventually has to go back to be captain of the ship and wait another 10 years to come back.

What would happen if the Curse is Broken? The Flying Dutchman needs a captain. And without Willl, the Flying Dutchamn can't fery souls, which it needs to do..

So many questions.

P.S I'm getting the DVD./ HD Disk. Whats format does it come out in anyway?

Jack Sparrow was afraid of death, he didn't like his experience in Davy Jones' locker, and he also has a bit of pride (it doesn't get in the way of his judgment though).

That's not how i understood it. The curse isn't broken every 10 years, but that he can go to land every 10 years.

And who is his true love?

On wikipedia, its confirmed the screenplay writers failed to convey the fact that if the captain's love remained faithful, he would be released from his curse. Davy Jones' love betrayed him, so he betrayed her. He was thus cursed forever.

Once I heard about the pirate lords I felt like I was watching a live action version of One Piece, the Japanese pirate manga (comic).

There were some humorous parts in the movie, but my favorite part is where Sparrow makes the logical statement and at the end says "Q.E.D." The nerd inside me loved that :p. But overall the movie felt a little long like they probably could've cut parts out that didn't really do anything. The movie was also highly predictable.. I mean once something happened, you could guess what was going to happen next. Not sure if this is a good trait or not.

Upon more research the 'writers' have gone along with and even said the explaination had been cut out of the final edit.

However; since it didn't make the movie it's technically not canonical.

"if after 10 years the lover remains faithful and meets them again, the curse is broken"

Some plot holes are: 1) who becomes the captain of the Flying Dutchman? (does calypso pick again) 2) Since cutting one's heart out was a curse, does Will simply die once he becomes mortal again?

The end scene they are saying should have explained this all, but it's a stretch.

eh, it was to my understanding that will gets to bang elizabeth once every 10 years, but let's see, she goes from 20 to 30 w/o aging, and then 30 to 40, and then... NO PROFIT!?

The fact that the captain is immortal while he's doing his duty and then becomes mortal again when he completes the 10 years with faithful lover means that he was cured of his curse.

I was not looking for solutions to the plot holes. Those are what's left in the writing, esp. from someone putting it all together as he goes.

The curse in question (cut out heart) was not Calypso's 10 year service on the Flying Dutchman. That curse is what's up in the air now as far as what's been written. However; the film writers may figure out a way to make it work for Will living or dying depending on who signs back on for the next sequel.

All of this has already been hashed out on imdb.com and the writer's website; even the WDW keeptothecode.com site has it hashed.

Yeah, I missed that too. But Pintel and whats his face were climbing all over the damn thing. Would've made a kickass scene.

He mentions it to Beckett, the scene never made it to film.

Beckett made him kill the Kraken.

Too damned many plot lines to keep track of.

Everyone tried to doublecross 10 people at once. Way too hard to keep track of. And the wedding at the end was just stupid.

My one sentence review of the movie: The monkey had all the best lines.

My wife and I went to see it last night and I thought it was pretty enjoyable if a bit confusing in some parts because some explanations were left out. My wife thought 1 & 2 were better.

The final fight scene kind of reminded me of Kevin Costner's The Postman - two armies/armadas line up to do battle only to have the two leaders/lead ships go and do all the fighting while everyone else stands around and watches. Of course, the final fight in PoTC blows away the final fight in The Postman.

Busy summer. I've already seen more movies this year than all of the last three years or so combined. Still have Fantastic Four, Transformers, Live Free or Die Hard, Ratatouie, and a couple more to go.
