What happened to Callipsa (sp?) after she turned into crabs? was the storm all it was?

SPOILERS

You see a scene with "10 years later", of a child singing the song "Hoist the Colours" (same song as the beginning of the movie) with Elizabeth behind and Will coming to shore. I don't get where the OP says it explains a lot about the opening scene. To me, all the opening scene was about pirate helpers being executed and a call for the Bretheren to be organized.

So basically since will served his 10 years he gets to go home with his family?

For the day

The voodoo lady (Calypso) sent them when she arrived in Davey Jones Locker. She needed Jack to be alive and well since he didn't pass on his piece of eight before he died. Jack needed to be alive because only the brethren court could free her.

someone PM me what happened exactly!

So did I. I had to piss...

I kinda felt the movie was a bit too long and dragged out. Plenty of action here and there but the ending left me saying "Wait, it's not over yet?"

I am OK with another episode of Pirates, maybe even a few episodes, they are still entertaining to me.

Yeah, despite the story lacking a bit, the movie was really funny.

ooh okay....see I was confused because Davey Jones talked about how calypso didn't meet him when he went ashore after 10 years. I took that to mean that he was supposed to only have to do it for 10 years period, and he was mad because she was making him do it forever

I just got back from watching At World's End (PotC3) on the *opening* day.
Well, here's something I'll say: Keira Knightly is very hawt. Extremely. Her accent helps. I think its cheating. Secondly, never go when pre pubescents and plain crude retards go to the same theater. In the middle of a Kiera Knightly intense moment when she was clad in nothing really but a Tia Dalman tight, thigh high black dress sort of thing, one of the kids in the theater decided to be really cool and announced, "I have a raging boner!" at the top of his lungs. Now everyone had a good laugh, except me. I thought it rather funny, but rather unnecessary.
Anyway, the seats behind me had been reserved and they were reserved for 5 fat middle aged women...and a lunk. They were alright til the end of the show, until when the credits were done flashing (yes, there is a scene after the credits, but it has no humor, and its not necessary. It was...nice to see I guess, to satisfy curiosity.
The Scene was this: (spoilers from this point onwards)
Kiera Knightly runs out in her nice dress with a boy (presumably her son--and Will's) starts singing a pirate song.
One of the fatties behind me quipped, "Well I never saw them have sex."
It was one of those crude voices, made worse by the fact that the voice's owner was a fat bitch.
Moral of the story: Don't go the first day unless you can handle retards.

The Movie itself to me was rather disappointing. There's a slight spoiler and here it is: He who stabs the heart of Davy Jones must take over as captain of the Dutchman.

After a series of events unfolds, the ending is pretty clear--or is it?

It's a pretty impressive turn of events, and a load of fabricated and exaggerated pirate mythology is put into a syncretic blend with that of the Classic Greeks, making the movie pretty enjoyable, from a wannabe classicist's perspective like me.

Kiera Knightly was indeed hot as ever, and there was a lot of action. Jack Sparrow was also very slick, and there were some interesting scenes with him dealing with his psychology, and it was comical and all that.

Some of the scenes were just weird, and I was asking myself at times "Wtf does this have to do with the movie...?" or "WTF, they totally bungled the series, I don't want to watch it happen like this"

There was a really cool scene where: (Spoiler)

Tia Dalman (or whatever her name is) talks to Barbossa, revealing he is technically still dead, and his fingers are appearing to be half rotten and skeletal. This reveals to us she is more than just a conjurer and could be a goddess in human form *nudge* *nudge* *cough*

Tia Dalman also has a meeting with Davy Jones, revealing himself as he really should be if his job hadn't been corrupted, and he himself wasn't corrupted. Really good CG and plot twists all around.

Keith Richards the actor or whatever appears as Morgan Black, or whatever, the pirate who laid down the code. He is also rumored to be Jack's father.

Here's the ratings bar:
Humor: 7.5
Kiera Knightly factor: 9
Cool factor: 8
Battle Scene factor: 10
Plot: 7
(scores not averaged)
Final Score: 8.5 with a must see brand.

Just make sure you can handle the retards.

SPOLIER...................

That kid with Elizabeth was the same kid in the first scene.

That doesn't make any sense at all though. First off, 10 years later was 10 years after becket's death. the kid also should have aged 10 years. It doesn't make any sense...at all. You'd have to think 2 things:
1) The kid is not Kiera and Orlando's child (never saw them tumble anyway)
2) The kid hadn't aged a damn day.

Please feel free to explain your logic.

I have the TV on nearly every second I'm home, and the only 'trailer' I saw was some other product commercial making a mention. Do they think they're that 'bad' they won't need to advertise...

no, they thought it was that good that they did not need to advertise. All of the big sequels this summer have not really advertised at all.

Meant 'bad-ass', score one for my vague communication.

My general comments, after seeing it at 10:50 this morning.

It was a bit slow at times. I remember the second one being almost constant action and I had a lot of fun watching it. This one does a bit more plot building, but is not as clumsy at it as Spidey 3 was. Overall it was promising, but I think if they make a 4th it will be a mistake. I was looking forward to the 'ending' of the story here but you can tell they just set the franchise up for a least one more run at it. Overall I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars, for some slow parts (at 2 hr 45 mins it wasn't neccessary) and a somewhat disappointing ending.

What do you think those Kiera leg shots at the end of the movie were all about? Orlando getting dressed... etc.

Doesn't take a big imagination to figure that one out.

Not bad movie, I thought. Wasn't a big fan of how they hyped up Calypso for the whole movie and she then did NOTHING other than make a big vortex in the water.

The beginning scene with the kid singing made zero sense, and the ending scene didn't shed any light on the subject.

A: (Guess) Tia Dalman called them to do so.

Yeah, the Kiera Knee shots drove the audience mad. One of the pre adolescents screamed, "I have a raging boner!!!" and then his retarded friends started laughing.
A girl replied, "OMG ME TOO!" and the whole theater started laughing. Really sad.

I just saw it this afternoon and I was surprisingly pleased with it. I wouldn't say it was great, but it wasn't bad. Even though the plot was pretty discombobulated, I think it was a better movie than Pirates 2.

Actually, I was thinking, and the OP is correct, in a way.

Remember the whole thing about the green light? Well after Elizabeth and Will had sex, we see Will leave and the sun set with a green light. The green light symbolizes a soul returning to the earth. The soul returning to the earth was the kid that was hanged. That explains why it was the same actor.

Yeah, that's Richard Kieth, who plays the founding pirate, Morgan Black or something. He's rumored to be Jack's dad.

But, yeah, he has Christian crosses. I didn't see any attempt at making a point at all.

Damn, you're right. That's some mad interpreting skills. Kinda creep though...
These movies are an interesting blend of Dutch, Pirate, Classical Greek, and Caribbean (Voodoo) mythologies.

I actually liked it a lot. I brought the whole full circle with Jack on his own again and Barbosa with the Black Pearl.

I saw the scene after the credits only because the OP said that its useful in understanding the first scene. I think the OP was totally wrong about that. The first scene is just the pirates singing Hoist the Colors whereas the last scene just means that Elizabeth was faithful to Will and they can be a family now after his 10 years of servitude.

Wow so wrong. The actor is Keith Richards who lays Captain Teague who IS Jack's dad. The part where Jack asks how mom is to Captain Teague makes it obvious that he's is Jack's dad.

yeah..wh00ps.
Yeah, that was funny. Jack's like, "ok, so how's mom?" and Captain Teague pulls out a shrunken woman's head, ahahaha.
But whoever was remarking about Jack's behaviour being not so carefree or silly, I think they wanted to show that he was grimmer because of his encounter in hell/purgatory/Davy Jones' locker. He doesn't want to go there again, because of all the psychological torture he went through. When he was suggesting his plan to become the next Flying Dutchman's Captain, his dad sighed and said, "The problem is not living forever for a pirate, it's living with himself".
Pretty good lines for anyone. (I think it was something like that).
