Too complicated......ehhhhhh...shut...up.....I liked the complexity. the fact that we are still talking about it days later is a testament to how good it was. It made you think. I know that thinking may be painful, but it can be fun. I enjoyed trying to puzzle out how everything fit together. ....it fits together pretty well after reflection. The movie would stand up to a second viewing, and I would probably see new stuff.

As for the opening scene, I just figured it was there to set the scene about how dire the circumstances were and to make the viewer think that the pirates were in fact heroes....because...you know....pirates have been known to do some bad stuff too.

I really like Kiera Knighlty. She was spunky and hot, but that wasn't her thigh. She is a very skinny woman, and she has got to have chicken legs, so I am pretty convinced that she had a thigh double for the whole thigh kissing scene. Not that it wasn't a very beautiful thigh.

Incoherent 3-hour mess of a story.

But it was amusing, though it did drag on at times.

First one was far better. Shorter, and simpler, but much more solid.

The only thing that disappointed me was how Jack Sparrow barely had a main role... In the first he was clearly the main character, in the second not so much, and in the third he was as important as anyone else

just got back from the movie...it was awesome

one point about them cutting out the scene explaining calypso and jones...I thought they didn't. at one point, he asked her why after 10 years, she didn't show up? she answered that her nature kept her away. Meaning that she was either unfaithful or she was using him all along. Just like the character Calypso did tormenting and using people to her advantage in the spiderman comics.

however, they did leave out the fact that if the lover of the captain of the flying dutchman remained faithful after 10 years, the captain would be free of his duties. So the rest of us would just have to interpret it as 1 day of hump time for 10 years of service.

I missed both the beginning and the scene after the ending credits...LMAO!

Ok, bumping an old thread, and a question about POTC 2 -

I found this on Movie Mistakes -
Continuity: When Lord Beckett is trying to convince Will Turner to go after Jack Sparrow, he picks up a red hot poker from the fire and says that they've marked each other. The shot cuts to Will who asks simply "How did he mark you?" at which point the shot cuts back to Beckett and the formerly red-hot poker is already now a much cooler black. Glowing hot iron does not cool that quickly in air.

Aside from the hot poker comment - it says that Beckett said (in a way) that he was marked by Sparrow - anyone know how/what or any info on that part of the movie? In the first POTC, Norrington brings it up ("Brush with the East India Trading Company..." line) but that's it. ???

mediocre, then again i thought the first two were only so so as well but the gf likes em. Anyway, the last battle scene was pretty cool with all the action talk about busting the budget on special effects lordy lord.
