okay, even if the decimal error was a simple math error, i can't possibly see how it costs $0.05/hr to operate a computer... let's assume energy is $0.10 - $0.12 per kWH... that would mean you'd have to draw 500W for it to cost that much per hour. I have 2 full towers (each w/ a 500W PSU), with 5 total hard drives, two 19" LCD's, and a wireless router on my UPS, and it's drawing 264 watts at a reasonable idle (i.e. downloading). There is no way you're going to draw 500W, unless maybe you leave on a CRT or 2, which would just be stupid, as that isn't exactly critical to downloading.... I would guess that your estimate is off by a factor of 2.
(add in your original factor of 10, and you have a wonderful error of around 1900%)
