Picked it up, fun drive home, Washington DC was fun...fixed a few things on the body (pulled the stupid headlight covers off, and put it back to stock height, tinted rear tails), and got her how I want it..will be putting 20-50% tint, not sure what I want to do yet.

Mileage?

Can you see it in person? I love black bmws (I'm biased :hmm: ) but you need to take a CLOSE look to make sure it's not scratched to hell and back. A decent wax will hide everything for a few weeks

Also, you may want to see if it's one of the cars covered under BMWs Extended Warranty for the fuel pump. I think the covered cars got extended to 10 yrs/100k miles.

Edit: on Spatially's point about scratches, I've found a good high powered LED torch helps. Even in the daylight. 😛

It's in Boston, I wont see it until I fly out. The guy is an enthusiast ... said he's waxed it a lot..if it turns out to be shit, I will just fly home.

It is, he also already had it in at the shop to take a quick look at everything for me.

He said he has had a hard time selling, he's one of the first people I contacted back in Feb about his car, he's just been keeping in touch ... we've exchanged some 70 emails, haha.

DEFINITELY pay for a PPI through an independent BMW shop before flying out.

Get it checked out at a BMW dealer, they might be able to sell you a CPO warranty.

So I have heard ... I am going to sit on some sports seats at a local BMW dealership ... and talk to them about CPO'ing it here, if at all possible.

I feel weird paying almost 22k for almost a 6 year old car! but she is a beast of a car, definitely an upgrade to my 2.0T A4.
 
I can think of a lot of worse cars to buy for $21k provided you JB this one to 400 HP :awe:

There are some cars it should be a crime not to mod the day you get it home, and a 335i is one of them.
 
Looks like a great car. Can't think of a lot better cars (all around) for just over 20k. 50k miles is great too.
 
Sounds good, though the lack of sport package is a bummer. I really prefer the sport seats and steering wheel (actually I replaced the steering wheel on my E90 330i Sport with an M3 wheel, which is even better). If memory serves, the xi doesn't get the sport suspension from the i models, so that is a non issue.

I will say that I prefer the RWD enough in warm weather to accept it in wintertime here in Mpls. Throw some Blizzaks on and an i model will work well. Obviously we get a lot of snow in most years, but it's so flat that I have found my RWD car works fine in winter.

Oh, and get that awful shift knob off and get a ZHP one! Major improvement for minor money.

I would guess that a CPO warranty would be a bad investment, since you might be buying yourself only several months of protection, and BMW will find a way to rape you for doing so. A private-party extended warranty might be a better option. Actually a BMW dealer can print out the service history of the car, and if it's been generally reliable I would probably pass on a warranty altogether.

I LOVE AWD, just pulls so much nicer .. I don't mind RWD, but man...AWD is just slick as hell.

I plan to get the private party warranty.
 
I'm assuming the removal is the same for the e90s as it was for the e46...Just pull and try not to break any teeth. Knew one just gets pushed on until it clicks.

This is from the e9x series, seems to be the same as the e46. The first time you take the knob off it will be pretty difficult.

I did mine a little differently. I opened the sunroof, sat in the middle of the two front seats (on the armrest/console) one leg on either side of the shifter, stuck my head out of the sunroof 😛, put it in 4th gear and then pulled it off the gear stick.

If it's never been removed before, it can be a bit of a struggle. Just keep applying force.
