Why does this place exist? Because one of us was in a rush, we unfortunately had to settle for it yesterday when we didn't want to wait an hour for Cheesecake Factory next door. So instead, we got into PF Changs with 9 people with no wait. That should've been our first clue. The $14/person dishes were equivalent to $5 take-out chinese food. The menu items were THE SAME as chinese take-out food and our 2nd mistake was presuming it would somehow be better - NO. If you have never had the misfortune of going to one, consider yourself lucky. We spent $155 on chinese take out. Apparently many others do too...

It exists because people like it, and they must be doing something right. Because it's not cheap, and we're in a rescission, yet the one up the street from me almost always has a long ass wait. I know people who consider it their favorite place to eat.

I agree, its a overpriced McDonalds (excluding the cheesecake)

PF Changs food quality and taste is far different and better than $5 Chinese buffet. Its like comparing Starbucks with McDonalds coffee.

BLASPHEMER! Cheesecake Factor has killer appetizers and their peanut-butter cup cheesecake is one of the greatest things ever. I could eat their Buffalo Chicken Blasts over just about anything. They also have fried Mac & Cheese balls. Possibly the greatest appetizer ever invented by man. While they're not the best fried mac & cheese balls I've ever had. 99% of places don't even have them.
 
I kind of thought that the people who would eat at CF would also eat at PF Chang's, so I'm surprised that one was packed and the other wasn't.

they didnt feel like over priced chinese that day, they wanted over priced american food and overrated cheesecake

both are over priced but if they were the only 2 options id pick changs every time
 
I think it's the "social" thing. Well at least in midtown here. People just hang out there like Starbucks. That will drive ppl in even more.

Yup. I don't know how places like this (and even worse, Panda Express) thrive here in Hawaii. We have great Chinese places and pretty good chinese fast food. Yet, PF Changs and Panda express are booming. My wife loves both of these places, but I understand, she's a mainland transplant (raised on the Navajo reservation in AZ). What I don't understand is the many local/asian people lining up to eat at these places...there is much better Chinese food for much cheaper all around here!!!
