It continues to amaze me, but why do people like cheesecake factory so much?

3 words - Buffalo Chicken Blasts, I don't care if the rest of the menu sucks. For that 1 item alone that place is worth going to. I haven't had much else there so I can't comment on the place as a whole. But I know the Blasts are good enough I could eat them every day for a month. They also have good French Fries and give you a ton of food. And it's the only chain, that's in So Cal any ways where I can get deep Fried Mac & Cheese balls. That's a food given to us from Jesus himself. I can't think of anything that's more delicious.

1. Squaw Bread;
2. BIG portions (even for me (6'3", 240lbs), every meal is 2 meals in one (so the prices do not seem as bad))
3. Strawberry lemonade (with free refills).

A friend and I went to PW a week ago. What a total disappointment (for me). My friend thought it was good while I could make much better at home.

Of course you could...

Why don't you open a restaurant then? WINNING!

Is it that time of the year again? For the PF Changs blows thread?

Hahah I opened this expecting a thread necro because I'm sure I've read the exact same OP, word for word, some time in the last year.

You're complaining about PF Changs, when you originally wanted to go to the Cheesecake Factory?

btw, were you at the Source Mall?

yes, there. And yes, like I already covered, PF offers take-out quality food and portions. Nothing but a laminated take-out menu (at least be creative with your names), no extras. CF is a true dine-out experience. Bread is warm and soft, plates are HUGE, and oh yeah there's that dessert many covet.

Why the christ was there a 1 hour wait at Cheesecake Factory?

On a Wednesday night no less, that tells you it's THAT good. There's another one about 20 minutes away, and other places like TGIFridays, Bertucci's, Ruby Tuesday's down the block, so it's not like it's the only one around. Again, NO WAIT at PFC right the fuck next door. The people who were there were probably spill-overs like us. Oh wait, I just figured out why it exists.

same reason asian people dont show up much at white restaurants.

not sure I understand this logic. It was 90% white in PFC.

More importantly, what group of assholes shows up at a restaurant with 9 people, without making a reservation or at least calling ahead? It's mutually beneficial if you notify them that you will be showing up with a large group.

In short, it's your own fault. And I like PF Chang's! :)

What kind of assholes DON'T TAKE RESERVATIONS for dinner?! Wait, I'm putting CF down when I like them... nevermind... but yeah, I did call, they said no reservations, 2 locations. I knew that from past experiences and tried anyway cause I needed to decide which to go to. When I called it was 630pm and there was no wait. 30 minutes later, we show up and it was a madhouse with an hour wait. Judging from their turnouts, it wouldn't be fair for anybody.

And yes, it sounds like you would like PFC. But next time save some money if you want tasty chinese food, cause they all use MSG.

Its like comparing Starbucks with McDonalds coffee.

Lots of people buy espresso concoctions and compare them to other places drip coffee. It's not Mcdonalds fault you can't see Starbucks $2 drip coffees hidden on the last menu where no one ever looks apparently.

Yes McD's iced coffee drinks are seaweed thickener heaven but they aren't $5 either so pick your poison. Coffee wise though, it doesn't make much difference believe it or not. McD's coffee is not 100% arabica but its still a blend they put research into creating. Other than starbucks 'omg it came from columbia and we overroasted it alot'.

Exactly, pfc is a white restaurant, understand?

Not many asian parents first choice for dinner was applebees or red lobster or olive garden;) Never mind anything more obscure.

Many asian parents only really do the american fast food.

PF Changs
Why does this place exist? Because one of us was in a rush, we unfortunately had to settle for it yesterday when we didn't want to wait an hour for Cheesecake Factory next door. So instead, we got into PF Changs with 9 people with no wait. That should've been our first clue. The $14/person dishes were equivalent to $5 take-out chinese food. The menu items were THE SAME as chinese take-out food and our 2nd mistake was presuming it would somehow be better - NO. If you have never had the misfortune of going to one, consider yourself lucky. We spent $155 on chinese take out. Apparently many others do too...

They have a sub chain called PEI WEI which is awesome.

They should just close down all the parent restaurants.

Nothing beats Americanized Orange Chicken, real Chinese food has too many veggies and not enough breading or frying. I went to a place in China Town with a friend and they didn't even have Orange Chicken, WHAT THE FUCK?

The chicken used in PF changs is far superior to what any local place in Kansas City, Missouri uses. Any local place here has chicken that is somehow mostly fat and gristle nastiness.

This is just like the pizza threads. Blah blah my local place is better. Right. W/e

PF changs is great

I'm pretty white, but even I don't think PFC is Chinese food. Still good, though.

Like folks have been echoing in this thread, the chain is not the first choice of real chinese food.

It's like Dominoes or pizza hut being offered in Italy.

If PF's and Panda was overseas, they're pretty much going to be viewed at as asian mcdonald's and avoided like the plague, that's why there is no business there for them. It's like Carter coming to that chinese joint in Rush Hour looking for baby back ribs and fries, ending up arguing about being a punk bitch.

Yup. I don't know how places like this (and even worse, Panda Express) thrive here in Hawaii. We have great Chinese places and pretty good chinese fast food. Yet, PF Changs and Panda express are booming. My wife loves both of these places, but I understand, she's a mainland transplant (raised on the Navajo reservation in AZ). What I don't understand is the many local/asian people lining up to eat at these places...there is much better Chinese food for much cheaper all around here!!!

It was shocking for me visiting my fiancee's family on Oahu and finding out how popular Panda Express is. For every pot luck/family gathering thing somebody picks up a bunch of panda, freakin' bizarre. We've gone to good Chinese restaurants for dim sum, authentic and americanized while there but panda has this strange pull on everyone. It isn't like they are transplants, they are all local...odd.
