Yea I never got why he became so famous. I'd watch him do a gameplay of some scary games and he would just scream like a toddler most of the time.
the only gameplay videos i can stand are from robbaz
I personally think It's a pretty stupid thing to wonder why someone likes him. We all have different opinions about what we like and no all his fans aren't kids. I'm 26, my boyfriend is 30. We love him. Our friends love him too, he's just funny to watch because he doesn't give a shit. Only you-tubers I watch are Dashie, dunkey, pewds, manly and sometimes mark and yanderedev. We just pop the vids on and laugh while we cuddle in bed and live our happy lives. I'm sure the things you like are hated by other people so I just find it weird to ask such a question. As for this, I dunno I can't take jokes seriously enough to rag on someone, and good for him for all his success despite all the hateful people out there.

Rude jokes in the workplace can get you fired. That's why I just keep to myself.
In regard to PewDiePie he'll be fine. He's not going anywhere. With nearly 60m subs he is the biggest YT personality by far. Yes, he did tarnish his brand which wasn't smart. But, if he just does his thing this will all blow over.
I find it funny how uninformed everyone is on this.
I don't support Pewdiepie or whatever, and I have NEVER watched a SINGLE video from him since I'm not the target audience... but this is a clear cut case of the media misconstruing and trying to chop someone that is taking from them. Every single thing is a joke that was taken out of context.
I highly suggest looking at this stuff from Phillip DeFranco that is reporting on it often: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtlDC1sZFSg
News media is dying, Youtubers are rising and crushing them. This guy has 50 million SUBSCRIBERS. You think that many people subscribe to the Wallstreet Journal?
It's insane how crazy popular he is, I may have potentially watched some of his videos, but not really more than that. He kinda got lucky really as there are tons of vlogs out there, he was just one of the first that got recognized so well. As for losing the sponsors, people are too sensitive these days and can't take jokes. I'm sure Pewdiepie could not care less, and probably even things it's hilarious as it just shows how much even professional organizations can be cry babies.
What's interesting is that it seems people are more sensitive on the internet than in real life. Racist jokes and stuff IRL are not really a big deal. But on the internet, all hell breaks loose.
YouTube subscribers are typically quite fickle, which isn't a big surprise considering the subscriptions are completely free. This guy has 50 million SUBSCRIBERS. You think that many people subscribe to the Wallstreet Journal?
Uh, what are you talking about? If anything, in my experience, a lot more stuff is tolerated online than it is in real life in most situations. But then again, I don't hang around with 10 year-old gamers. It's insane how crazy popular he is, I may have potentially watched some of his videos, but not really more than that. Sorry, Kim's body is hideous.
While you might think her body's hideous it's literally the only reason she's famous. Nobody cares about her political views or a single damn thing she has to say or anything else about her.
Is naivety a sin?Seems to depend on the topics. Online it seems religion bashing is more tolerated, but anything pertaining to racist jokes or LGBT related jokes is usually a HUGE no no. But IRL at work and other places we joke about stuff like that all the time and it's not really a big deal. Most of the jokes that come out would probably be bannable at most online places like here. IMO true racism is when you actually HATE a certain race. Just making a joke is not the same as hating. We still agree with equal rights and all that stuff.
His fame was the result of YouTube's algorithm for listing their "Trending" a long time ago. There's a few videos that go into detail how the algorithms were programmed that lead to his fame. Essentially, YouTube's programming made him famous simply because of where he lives - ie. he got lucky.Yea I never got why he became so famous.
