It's OK sunnyD, you can make up anything to support your argument that you want. So cute! /ruffles

And for the record - there isn't a measurement device out there that has the capacity to measure me in seximeters. :awe:
Any device that can produce a result of zero ought to work.

other than scientific math, us system much better.
Do tell us how.

In any case people will defer to whichever system they were brought up on but those claiming imperial is somehow better probably can't face the fact that something American isn't the be all end all of things. I wouldn't call either system superior but metric is definitely simpler and more logical and it boggles me how so many people fail to see this. It's NOT better but it IS simpler.

Also lol @ the dude who had to dig up WW2 as a backup argument to prove his point.

Alcohol and milk are officially in ltrs but everyone still thinks in pints (definitely for booze). And its not unknown to buy things with one dimension given in inches and the other in cm.

It's a bit more complicated than that in the UK. Any food/drink for sale to the public must be sold in metric units (e.g. if you buy some apples from a market stall, the price must be advertised per kg. The stall owner commits a crime if he advertises the apples as priced per pound. They are allowed to list the price per pound, but the price per kg must be given greater prominence).

However, there is an important exception; beer on tap. This MUST be sold by the pint or half-pint. A bartender commits a crime if he serves draught beer in any size other than a half-pint or full pint. (Technically, he is allowed to advertise it as 568 ml, but the serving must measure 1 pint). There was a case recently where a bartender tried to offer 200 ml servings of beer, to people who might have to drive later. This was done honestly and openly with the customer's full knowledge. He was convicted for selling beer in the wrong measure.

Why is the Metric system so much better? Why not binary?

Seriously, why is some system based on 10's so much better? Because people can't do math?

If people could do math, they would not play power-ball lotto....

Uhhh, anyone who cooks should easily be able to do that. Tablespoons - you should see the conversion every time you get out a stick of butter. Quart is a quarter of a gallon, duh. If you're impressed by someone who would know such basic measurements, then you're easily impressed.

You've... only answered 20% of the question, and you want me to take your post seriously? Perhaps my own would have been better if I said "surprised" instead of "impressed". The point of my post was to show that most people probably don't know fairly normal conversion factors within the Standard measurement system.

It's cross standards, but I also think it's funny when people try and tell me that a kilometer is bigger than a mile.

I know all of those conversions except tablespoons to cups, and honestly, why would I ever convert tablespoons to cups?

If you cook, you should be able to figure it out with deductive reasoning. Here I'll give you a hint:

What's the smallest fractional cup size available?

For Canada to use the metric system is total bullshit considering are largest trading partner is the U.S. which uses the Imperial system. I've never liked the metric system.

Example 1: How tall are you? Well, I'm 185 centimeters tall
I think 6' 3" sounds a lot better and is easier to imagine.

Example 2: How's your gas mileage? It's great I get 60 Kilometers per 100 liters.
You need your fucking calculator to put this in Imperial.
How about I get 40 miles per gallon.

To the U.S.: Stay with your Imperial system. Because you are the biggest boy on the block
you don't need to change to the ridiculously inane metric system.

Why do they care? Is it just a point to give people a basic system to understand how much you're drinking? ...or to give the police an easier way to understand?

Are you stupid or just stupid?

Example 1: It's just because you're more familiar with it that 6'3" sounds better.

Example 2: No one does km per 100 L. The Canadian standard is L per 100 km. Numb nuts.

Christ, people, make it seem like Canadians are smarter than Americans, please.

It's because beer is serious, serious business, and nobody gets to mess with it.

We're still waiting for any sort of rational counterargument from you. I understand it's your M.O., but witless trollish remarks really don't advance your cause any.

Also, I've given all the information you need to answer the question of how tall you are in seximeters in this thread... No device needed. I understand you're trying to be funny, again, in a trollish sort of way. And again, you're doing absolutely nothing to advance your position in that effect.

Otherwise, if you're truly that misguided, I'd have to agree with Howard.

There's got to be a name for the fallacy you employ here, but I can't remember what it is. Just because something you are used to is easier for you to visualise it doesn't mean its that way for everyone. I mean, I could point out that _to me_ when I read about the weight of a person in a US context, and they give it in pounds, it means nothing to me till I convert it into stone. 12 and a half stone sounds a lot easier for me to visualise than...er...175lbs. So following your logic that would mean that the US use of lbs is somehow inherently inferior to using stones?

PS in what sense is the metric system 'inane' (lacking meaning or substance), and what's the difference between being merely inane and 'ridiculously inane'? Can one be moderately inane?

Both systems have their logic and their uses. SI does work better in scientific/highly technical fields I think, but even there I believe people got by with non-SI systems for a long time.

Who comprise of this ”we” shit? You and the other retard? Reread what I wrote, and I understand it's difficult for you to discern, but it means the shit you made up isn't the same as a system. This should be the end of my half trolling effort here. Really, you're just an idiot. You're not worth any serious answer. It's like talking to a random schizo on the street of SF and try to debate him. That's it, that's the whole conclusion to this silly argument.

Finally, something we can agree on.

Other than that, "didn't think so". :colbert:
