personal emails at work...

my work has blocked personal email sites like yahoo, gmail and etc for a while now. I've been using my student email in the past with no problems. My student email was web-based and now they switched to web-based outlook and that is blocked.

tried using proxy.net, hideu.net, sneakyuser.com

I went to igoogle and they blocked the gmail part.

its not getting to email that i really need, my smartphone does that but i need to print the files. I've attempted to use uploading sites like yousentit.com and its blocked.

So i was thinking maybe if i get a low end email address thru a small company it might not be blocked? That or find a place where i can upload the file at home and download/print at work.

The USB ports are blocked by work as well, no thumb drives.

I was not given a work email because they told me i didn't need one. I did however got my files that i needed today done with by finding a guy and using his work email. I dont know him very well and i dont see him much so this was a one time thing.

I'm going to try to install dropbox at work today and see if that can do the trick.

Get your own domain name and web host, upload files there. Download via https from said webhost.

Why don't you ask the IT group for help? Why wouldn't they let you get files you need to get your work done?

Where do you work and what do you do?

You have to be pretty low end to not even get a e-mail account. Let alone a place that blocks even yahoo and such.

Usually if someone goes to such lengths to block you specifically from accessing personal e-mail accounts, there's a reason for it.

I'm confused, why not just send the files to your work email then?

This might be a ridiculous thought pattern, but I imagine that you'd be considerably less confused if you read the thread in its entirety.

Concidering he hasn't told us where he works, one can not tell if it is harsh to have personal email blocked.

My work does not, but we do lock down certain computers from accessing it due to the material they could contain.

Ask your IT dept. and go with what they say.

Considering that 'considering' is spelled as "CONSIDERING", I agree!

With security policies that restrictive, I'd suggest you just go to Kinkos and print your crap there.

Unless it's actually a work function - then you should talk to your IT dept.

IT has a reason for blocking email.
If you need email to do your job, then discuss this with your supervisor. Don't take it upon yourself to try to "Beat the system". How do you think this will work out when they find our you are circumventing security policies they have put into place?

Don't be an idiot.

if it's personal material... just go to kinkos. your employers kinda sound like IT nazis.

if it's work material... just go to our IT department and explain to them what/why you need to do.

Stop trying to do personal shit at work? Don't use their resources for personal shit.

Or just quit and save them the trouble of firing you?
