Is it in your head or is there a truly remarkable taste improvement? I don't drink soda but I'm tempted to drink just for this.

I don't give two flying rats about organic food but I would speculate sugar would taste noticeably different than HFCS. The questions is just how much and how much is hype?

Yes, there is a tremendous difference in taste. Anyone who claims to not be able to tell the difference either hasn't tried it and is just lying about it, or has tried it and it lying about it.

Mmmmm! I'm drinking directly out of a 2Liter bottle right now! I can certainly taste a difference, most specifically in the aftertaste. I dont drink soda very often, but I saw this on the shelf and it's delicious! Try it before it's gone again!

There's a discernible difference. I can tell most at the very beginning of the sip as well as the aftertaste. I prefer both with throwback. I also like regular pepsi, but the throwback improves on an already good soda. I haven't tried the Mountain Dew yet, but I have some in the fridge.

I think it's fabulous and to me there is a distinct difference.

I don't drink Pepsei but I did buy some throwback last year to try it out. There is a difference and it is better. Mountain dew tasted the most different, and not entirely sure it was for the better.

I just wish they would give us the option to purchase either one. I'd choose the sugar one any day.

Barely discernible difference to me. Small enough that I just don't bother looking for it.
Taste is highly correlated with the sense of smell. Gene expression also plays a role. One I remember is a distinct division in the human population to discern the taste of a certain bitterness associated with some alkaline poisons.
I would assume diet has an effect on taste as well. Physiological differences result from accumulation of certain substances within the body (or lack). Conditioning also mutes certain tastes and heightens others. Therefore, consuming a different sugar type may or may not produce a different taste.

Also note the 10% rule: Humans generally don't notice variations less than 10%. Inadvertent conditioning occurs when the body continually accustoms itself to small variations that, over a long period of time, add up to a major change.

It tastes quite different. I would say it tastes much better than regular Pepsi, but then I dislike regular Pepsi. I doubt it is any healthier.

Bottled water will typically taste slightly different from local tap water (except in the area it was bottled). This is again not to say that it is any healthier, just that it tastes different. For areas with decent-tasting water, the taste difference should be minor.

If you are trying to claim that all (potable) water tastes the same, then you are completely wrong. I grew up with well water that tasted quite different from (and worse than) other water. There is more in the water you drink than just hydrogen and oxygen.

I'm just trying to claim that the mind will make it taste better or worse for you. People will think bottled water tastes better cus it's supposedly cleaner when we all know that it's potentially worse for you than tap water is since bottled water isn't regulated like tap water is. Just like when people buy organic stuff at the store and say it makes them feel so much better than the old tomatoes they used to eat and don't taste any of the pesticides when there are infact pesticides in organic foods you buy at the super markets. Farmer markets/small growers are different.

it tastes different.

and, yes, it is somewhat healthier for you (for lack of a better term). 50% fructose as opposed to 55% fructose. after a while, it adds up and your resistance to insulin will decrease.

some tastes far better than tap water (fiji, ice mountain)

I can only wish my tap water tasted like dasani, aquafina, or nestle...

Even though the city of Modesto claims their tap water tastes good and has won blind taste tests. I call BULLSHIT on that. Heavily chlorinated water tastes terrible...and our water is HEAVILY chlorinated/chloramined.

I far prefer the taste of throwback Pepsi to "regular" Pepsi. Seems smoother to me, better taste, better aftertaste.

as a person who does tons of work for the beverage industry.

You do realize that bottled water is nothing more than pop with no syrup and flavorings?

It amazes me that people pay a buck a bottle for the stuff. Meanwhile the bottlers are laughing all the way to the bank.

Edit for a bit of backup....

Video i took at a line trail on a KHS filler/Zalkin capper tri block. The line is running @ 750bmp or so and on a smaller 20 oz runs around 1000 bmp.

Mexican Coke was a huge improvement over Coke.

Pepsi was already sweeter than Coke, and so Mexican Coke brought Coke to close to Pepsi levels. I believe the Pespi throwback messes things up to bring Pepsi to EVEN sweeter levels.
