you guys love that crap. Lets face the fact that anybody that would eat Taco Bell would eat anything. Just huff some of your medical marijuana and in no time at all you won't be able to resist.

Crap?

Ground beef or pork that is cured with salt peter, paprika, and peppers in a casing is crap? Just because it's a finer consistency of grinding than what is typically done in Europe for some sausage based cured meats? Muahahahahahaha!!!! Okay, well if you don't like sausage based meats then don't eat them. But they certainly aren't crap and have been around as food products for MANY centuries across many cultures around the world.

What scares me when I read the labels on most any sausage I see is the typical 75%+ calories from fat indication.

I quite like Taco Bell. I've come to the conclusion that Mexican food is so unsophisticated that Taco Bell hits all the wickets for acceptable Mexican food. It took me years to come to this realization, having been to some of the best Mexican food restaurants in Texas, and never leaving more satisfied than I would have been had I just gone to Taco Bell.

Keep in mind I enjoy expensive scotch, fine cheese & other cuisines, I just think Mexican food is pretty lackluster.

Excessive carbs are worse than excessive fats any day of the week for your body. Excessive fats your body doesn't always absorb and can shit out. Not the same for excessive carbs.

There is not a Mexican restaurant in existence that can give you a bean and cheese burrito for less than a dollar like Taco Bell. I don't care what kind of Mexican food snob you pretend you are; that is unbeatable.

American pizza is as different from Neapolitan Italian pizza as Neapolitan pizza is from crackers with cheese.

Really? Well I guess we'll just have to disagree then..

If I ordered "pizza" in a restaurant without any cultural context, I would definitely send back the crackers with cheese, but not either of the pizzas. I have a feeling most reasonable people would do the same. *shrug*

Pretty much. Beans (even refried), cheese, rice, and flour tortillas aren't exactly hard to screw up.

What makes a taco better, worse, or different in the meat and seasoning. I'll let you on a secret, meat from authentic tacos in Mexico aren't always as good as the meat found in Taco Bell, despite Taco Bell using lower grade meat. That's why taco's are designed to use a shit ton of spices in the first place to over power the taste of less than perfect meat.

I like taco bell for what it is. Decent burritos and tacos at a price that is hard to beat. I don't go there for mole enchiladas or grilled Monterrey salmon dishes. That would be stupid.

Their Monterrey salmon platter is pretty good though. Better than Abuelo's.

Most Mexican food is with the cheapest, highest fat content meat you can get. That is why it tastes so good!

I make my Mexican food at home, it's my staple and I make it with the lowest fat meat I can find, grind it myself. Not fatty, but my burritos taste great. Best burritos in town.

Highly unlikely, unless your town is filled with awful hipster "Mexican" food places.

How can you make carnitas with some dry, low fat pork? 95/5 beef in a taco? No thanks... I might as well be eating soy paste. 60/40? Well, now we're talking!

Yeah there is pretty much no way to make a healthy carnitas. It's an oxy moron.

And if you don't make refried beans with lard, why bother?

Exactly. For what it is, which is a quick, cheap meal, it's not bad.

What it's not is a high end Tex-Mex establishment. You want enchiladas or chili relleno? Go to a sit down place.

then you know fuckall about mexican. Until you've eaten at a good rio-grande-valley restaurant you know NOTHING of mexican food. Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston: ALL SHIT.

I went to some 'high end' mexican place in Austin, fucking cook was putting oil ON THE PAPER BAG to make it LOOK like they cooked their own chips: I looked in the back, it was Tostitos restaurant style chips. Then they tried to put an egg on my enchilada!?

I've eaten at the "best" places in El Paso, McAllen, Harlingen and Brownsville. Pepe's, El Plata, Julio, etc. It's just a shit-tier cuisine compared to just about anything else. That's why Taco Bell can easily beat them all with consistency and low prices.

Which 'high end' Mexican place in Austin put an egg on your enchilada?

So a bistec taco is the same as ground beef from a calking gun? A hand made corn tortilla is the same as pre-processed cardboard-shells? You're just being dumb ass to troll.

Good job mate, worked for a moment.

Alright dude, dig the grease, I won't put down what you do but I won't put that down my throat. Like I say, IMO I make the best burrito in town. And it is lean. How do I do it? Years and years of evolution in my kitchen. There are all kinds of Mexican food places around here. Not a one serves a burrito that's had the attention I've given to mine. I dig good carnitas. I discovered it back in the 1960's at a fantastic stand in west L.A. I had a carnitas burrito at Chipotle a month ago. It was good, but compared to my burritos, no contest. Yea, I know, they are a chain. I don't do chains a lot, but I've done the independents too. My favorite closed down over a year ago. I hit them once in a while, but they didn't have anything as tasty as what I can make, and in terms of healthy, also no contest. You might think that's an oxymoron, but that's your problem.
