LOL at the people not liking Taco Bell because they use "low quality" meats and shit. Most "authentic" places use loooooow quality shit themselves. I eat Mexican all the time, I go to ones the majority of spots people on here would consider authentic and real. I get a burrito about 2-3x the size of Chipotle for under $6. I don't have to ask to figure out that a $6 burrito that weighs close to 2 pounds and is stuffed to the brim with meat - it's not going to be high quality. Regardless how good it tastes.

Around $6.25 and seriously weighs over 2 pounds. High quality meats and cheeses you say? LOL. I'd bet money Taco Bell uses better quality stuff than any of my favorite hole in the wall spots that have workers who barely speak English.

One on the left is a surf & turf burrito with about a lb of shrimp and a mount of steak.

 Holy crap! How long does it take you to eat that????

If I ate shrimp probably about 20 minutes. The one I get's actually bigger but I can't find a picture of it. When we went I put both of my friends Note 3's next to it to get a visual and it was longer and wider than both phones combine. I forgot to take a pic though :(

For size reference the 1 on the right is bigger than a burrito from Shitpotle Mexicant grill.

LOL- that looks like something you would carve for Thanksgiving. If you can eat that whole thing, you're a better man than I :D

No one with any sense can fathom your inability to distinguish the sourcing of the ingredients from a place like Taco Bell compared to Chiptole.

Yes, you are absolutely right that Taco Bell probably has similar or even the same vendors as a lot of the cheap authentic places out there, because it's bottom of the barrel scraped bits. There is literally no comparison to where Chiptole gets their ingredients. Who gives a tidly dick if you don't like the taste of their food? that's not the point.

It's mind boggling.

And that is why Chipotle isn't real Mexican food. They actually use quality ingredients! It is another reason all the Californians hate Tex Mex so much: they restaurants use meat of a higher quality than that found in dog food. >_>

Chipotle's a scam, GMOs? check, "locally sourced ingredients"? a few, but not really enough to matter. The majority of the claims they make about the quality of their food's either an exaggeration or a straight up lie. They have faithful customers because people are too stupid to research and chose to just believe everything Chipotle spoon feeds them. They make a lot of claims, but it seems they can't back some of them up. But they really don't have to when people choice to believe what a cooperation says over, I dunno actually doing investigating on their own and not blindly accepting what they're told is true.

A few months ago they went back on their beef stance and now something like 30% of their beef is sourced from places that genetically modify their live stock. Which sort of goes against the whole "all-natural" angle they use to attract hippies and hipsters. But in their defense all natural means absolutely nothing so they're not actually misrepresenting anything. And hay 40% of their beans are organic, so that means only 60% of the beans in your burrito will be the poorly quality shit that Taco Bell uses.

Me personally I'd rather eat at a place that isn't full of shit and full of themselves, but that's just me.

I choose to believe everything Chipotle spoon feeds me, because it's delicious. It's also pretty healthy if you skip the tortilla. Good amount of protein & cheap, clean calories for $7.50. Now that sodium is healthy again, that's no longer a concern, so Chipotle is basically health food.

IIRC he's fat and likes fat women, so he probably wolfs it down in a couple minutes.

lol I'm 5'11 175lbs, I'm huuuuuuuuuuuuuge.

For ATOT standards I'm sure I'm fat, but I live in the real world - Where I wear 32" jeans and medium shirts.

Apples to oranges. The only place I've ever been able to get a burrito like that locally was from the Mexicans my mother used to work with in a county government office (the janitors would bring food to sell the office workers). Though I'm sure they were around, I never found one quite like that during my years in San Diego either. You are comparing something than many people can get in any major US city to something that can only be found in a select few.

Also, you are forgetting that the quality of ingredients DOES matter to many people. My sister, for example, will only eat responsibly raised meats (free-range, organic, non-GMO, hormone-free, etc) and, therefore, would not touch your preferred burrito. While I'm not picky about it, I would pick responsibly-raised meats over factory-farmed any day. It's not something I expect from hole-in-the-wall places, but it's not their advantage like you make it out to be.

I'm a firm believer of too much of a good thing is bad. There has to be the perfect proportion of all ingredients. It's like an amazing rib eye steak. 12-16oz would be perfect. Make it into some 64oz monster and you're feeling sick by the end.

Only by ATOT standards, I do play into the bafoons here though so it might seem like I'm a chubbie chaser. You have to understand this forum has nerds who think 140 is omgwtfbbqsauce fat.

heh, I doubt they will call you back. They are mostly likely around on Tuesday, but I'm really not sure. The best time for any day would be mid-afternoon to evenings, so I would guess you will have a good chance to see them.

When I say it is the best in Berkeley/Albany, I mean exactly that. This comment is prefaced by the fact that Mexican in Berkeley/Albany is pure shit. It is light years better than just about anything you will find in this area; but typical, maybe a little bit better, than most of what you would find in Oakland, even.
Zinfamous was talking about the taco truck in Hotsy Totsy's parking lot just south of El Cerrito shopping center on San Pablo Ave, "Tacos el Autlense".

I finally made it there when open today just before noon. The food was IMO quite decent. I ate 1/2 a carnitas burrito in the car and the other 1/2 when I got home 15 minutes later. They give you salsa verde and some jalepenos and sliced radish on the side. I got an asada taco too, these on Zinfamous recommendations. I'd do it again. The service was slow but I don't hold that against them. Fast service generally equates to inferior food, I figure, at a place like that. There were several customers outside the truck waiting when I got there. Next time I'll try the Asada Burrito, it's $5, a buck cheaper than the carnitas.

Fra'Mani pancetta is the greatest of all local cured (or uncured) Italian meat products, I must say

http://www.framani.com/
You said here that they have it at the Berkeley Bowl... I bought some Molinari there, they don't carry the Fra'Mani, at least they didn't when I shopped for it there a few months ago.

hah, awesome. glad you appreciated it

I've found that the carnitas burrito is way too heavy for me, so I go pastor for the burrito, and carnitas for the tacos. Those seem to be the perfect combination to me--the heavy frying with their carnitas is just way too much in the burrito.

as for the fra-manni pancetta. It is available in sealed packages near the meat section (BB West, anyway). Across from the meat counter, where you get the sausages and pre-packaged meats. on the very bottom rack, there is a variety of various pork products in sealed packages, and you can get large single slices (~4-5 ounces or so) of that Fra'manni pancetta, as well as their smoked pork belly--also tasty.

At the Deli, you can get them made to order from the fresh uh, tubes or salami or whatever you call it. At one time, they did carry the Fra'manni uncured version that way, but I am not sure if that is still true. They used to have cured and uncured, but either way, the Molinari is quite good, imo. I default to the chunks at the meat counter area, because they are weighed in portions that I usually request anyway.
