No, apple will never cross over, they have too much pride. In their eyes, being different and incompatable is the way to go, but they're just shooting themselves in the foot. One day they'll bleed to death and die, or be taken over. It couldn't come soon enough.

A 64 bit x86 version of Apple OS X would be sweet on Opteron or Athlon 64. It would be perfect for them since it could easily run popular windows apps keep the Apple look and be a ton whole lot faster. They could make them propiertery systems still around this and a gain share back. This is the only way Apple will ever gain any share back in the Computer market.
Though it looks like Apple will do either adopt the new IBM 970 chip or go out of the computer business altogether. Shoot the most likely scenerio is that they adopt the new IBM chip and it is still plagued with scalibility problems so they go out of business. With 2 percent share Apple better start doing some stuff right.
Why the hell would they want to run Windows apps? Besides, there's Virtual PC for that.It would be perfect for them since it could easily run popular windows apps
From what I've read, The 970 PPC has allready been adopted and is shipping. If I can find the link, I'll post it. BTW, They are profitable, Don't expect them to go out of business.Though it looks like Apple will do either adopt the new IBM 970 chip or go out of the computer business altogether.
They have 5%+ and gaining market share. They also do many things right. Have you ever actually sat down with a Mac and used iTunes, iMovie, iDVD, etc. Might change your mind. With 2 percent share Apple better start doing some stuff right.
I completely agree...The business model is something for music companies to look into. Only problem right now is that it requires iTunes to use.the thing to do right would be to come out with a windows version of the music store immediately
