Pence is protesting US citizens who are protesting. What a champion of the people!

The Trump administration wants to make sure that when their whole shebang spirals down the toilet their support base will be there forming a human chain hanging on to Trump, his family and his rotten corrupted to the core cabinet prolonging the agony as that last supporter in the chain is inexorably losing his grip on the toilet rim.

The problem here is that Trump and now Pence do not know when to pick a fight and when to keep their mouths shut. They charge right in thinking they look all badass, get their asses royally handed to them yet proclaim to their supporters "yeah, but you should see the other guys" as they head back in for another humiliating beat down.

These assholes never learn because they think they're always right.

I'm sure the enraged football fan boycotts are very real. I am 100% certain that these snowflakes have stopped engorging themselves in the very thing that pretty much defines their entire lives: tribal association with sportsing team.

Yes, very effective. very enraged. And Pence probably had to be told that he was at a football game (Weird-shaped tan ball)

It's all a cover story. He actually became panicked after being overwhelmed with homoerotic feelings upon witnessing so many large men in tights.

He fled to his room in AF2, flogged himself 50 times, and called Mother to ask forgiveness.

No, I havent missed the point at all. Both are forms of exorcising free speech on the job, and neither are forbidden by their employer. Free speech is free speech even if you disagree with it. Both are protected under the law.

In any case, both are "stunts".

Huh? Wait wut? I can't even with you. But this is a good example of the dangers of false equivalency. Be smarter than this.

In that case I go back to my original post in this thread. Its his constitutional right, just as its a player's right to kneel, so meh. In other news, water is wet.
I don't think anyone is arguing that the VP doesn't have the right to do this, they're just arguing that it was extremely stupid. In your other examples, at least there is an outcome attached to the publicity stunt. This case is significant because of the sheer stupidity of the entire issue. It advances nothing except dividing the nation. Maybe people would argue that he's advancing the cause of patriotism, but most would argue that's a pretty stupid cause to warrant the attention of the VP and an exclusive side trip.

Of course both are protected under the rule of law. But one is worth something and the other was a farce. To call them both "stunts" is to belittle what the kneeling is all about and a crude comparison. I think you mean to call the kneeling a movement, a peaceful protest, a plea for change... But "stunt" is a slap in the face to those who hope for much needed common sense, common decency change. Again, if you can't comprehend it on that level it's time to switch out your drool rag. The current one must be soaked through at this point.

I think you misinterpret the phrase keep it simple, stupid... What word are you putting the emphasis on in that sentence as it pertains to you? At the very least you are aware that water is wet, be super proud of that little buddy!

Moron Trump supporters will eat up whatever Daddy dishes out.

Right up to the moment we get nuked.
North Korea isn't the only country that would love to rid the planet of that evil empire i.e. United States. Evil as in their eyes.
Face it, trump is their only opportunity to make that happen.
And to think they would let this opportunity pass is hiding your head in the sand.
All it would take is for any two of those that hate us to join forces, an unholy alliance.
If you think the Soviet Union is just sitting around, think again.
There is a reason the Soviets hack us at every chance they get. And with that unholy alliance, all it would take is North Korea plus any one of many others. Especially one of many others waiting in line with the technology and the power to turn America into nuclear toast.

This is why one pushes for treaties and control of the weaponry of mass destruction. Not, as with Donald Trump, foolishly knock those controls down.
Only someone as idiotic as Donald Trump could fail to connect the dots between pursuing deterrents vs the alternative.
If we enter into any major world war of any scope, it will lead to nuclear exchange. Especially when one of the leaders involved is a Donald Trump.
Talk about the perfect storm.
Trump. Putin. Kin Jong-un. What could go wrong?

And we all know exactly what is going on with republicans in congress. They have their eyes on the prize of the US Supreme Court. They believe it best to not rock the Trump boat better known as the Trumptanic, and leave all as is expecting to get another two justices appointed within the remaining trump years. What Trump does matters not to them including bringing about a world war.
They fail to realize it won't make much difference who sits on the high court if the nation has been torn apart with nuclear war.
Or survives at all.

Why is it that the left continually makes gay slurs? C'mon, dude, it's not like this is a dry well. I'm sure you can find plenty of insults without going there.

It's Pence. He's probably the biggest whale remaining in the "totally into dudes in a very serious way, but publicly anti-homo" self-loathing GOPer club.

Pence has no clue we exist, and wouldn't care if he did know. Unless one of us was waving a check anyway. But it isn't just Pence, it's pretty much every conservative that a proggie wants to insult. It's just kind of rude to gays.

Now I have nothing against being rude to gays or anyone else in principle, although as a Southerner, I try to have a tiny bit of decorum, but dang, guys, can't we spread it around? Can we at least have one month go by without using homosexual slurs as insults? These are politicians and celebrities; with just a bit of work, I'm sure you can all find plenty of potential insults without going there. Call it "No Gay Slurs November" and you'll have three weeks to practice.

(Not you personally, Meat, you're great. More of a liberal than a progressive anyway. But it's uncomfortably common among the more doctrinaire progressive crowd.)

well, can we still call out the dudes that are really into (female) whores? I don't know why we should let Anthony Weiner off the hook for sticking his weiner in every possible, inappropriate hole.

This is just an outright joke. I honestly can't understand this anymore. I can only assume that this was all a setup prank to just try and rile more people up.

Really, I just want to understand what narrative Trump/Pence are after.... Make both sides go to the extreme and get butt-hurt over simple things like this? Try to enact a civil war somehow? I honestly don't get this childish bullshit anymore.

Apparently, Trump is now proposing to change Tax Law to punish the NFL....

Well shit, if Trump can somehow eliminate the NFL's status as a non-profit, then fucking kudos to Trump.

(I mean obviously this is just more empty threats and bluster from a guy that has no clue what he's doing, but it would be a welcome change)

I wasn't a supporter of players kneeling during the anthem, but what Pence did is beneath the office of the Vice President.

While I agree that the NFL shouldn't be a nonprofit it wouldn't make much of a difference. The only part of the NFL that's considered a nonprofit is the central office and that represents a tiny fraction of the overall enterprise.

I am baffled by just how inept Pence is though. Staging this stunt should have been super easy to pull off with at least plausible deniability that it was a stunt. Pathetic.

That and all the tax advantages given to teams and owners for building stadiums and enticing them to move cities.

I find it commical that for-profit corporations are considered such a dirty word of evil do-ers, yet non-profit is considered an angel by name. People are grossly misinformed and are quite idiotic. If anything it's the reverse - for-profit companies are subject to their stakeholders (as well as public image).

Because if Pence pulled it off himself he (Pence) would get the credit & praise.
The mistake was including Dear Leader in the planning.

The tax breaks/stadiums/etc. that cities give NFL teams are completely on the city itself.....their choice to make like with any business that's being enticed to stay/relocate.

So now that the tax issue is off the table Trump just spent taxpayer money to stage a stunt for the sole purpose of fomenting hate between groups in the country.

This, and personally I'm pretty fucking tired of it. There is and should be no Constitutional protection against being offended, and I'm way past being impressed at anyone's outrage. Put on your big boy panties and deal with it.

LOL, do you even remember what you post within a thread? I honestly could care less if Pence is gay but that man is so repressed and in the closet it isn't funny yet he uses his position to wage a war on people who are comfortable with who they are.

Yup, doesn't matter what you think about it, the President and the VP getting involved in this kind of petty shit just means that they are petty little shits.

Pence is protesting US citizens who are protesting. What a champion of the people!

Not only that, he is protesting against equal protection under the law. Great leader there. Maybe he should have taken a moment to understand just what they were protesting instead of just a kneejerk reaction of being against whatever a black man was for.
