What do you mean about cheaper? Blanco is silver. Or were you referring to specific brands?

Cheaper in price. Cazadores Blanco is $30 vs. Patron Silver is $50. Cazadores is just as good (IMHO), but in a lower price range.

Patron isn't bad, but it's overpriced and marketed as ultra premium. You can get a nice Anejo for the price that your spending on a Patron Silver.

this past weekend i was at a party where some people (myself included) brought some tequilas. i had a shot of casa noble (blanco), don julio (anejo), patron (silver), then another casa noble. i liked the casa noble better than the patron, maybe the don julio slightly more - seemed as smooth but with more flavor.

i have some cazadores reposado and corazon reposado at home. im not a huge fan of the corazon (liked all the previously mentioned ones more), but havent tried the cazadores. my bro says all the mexicans in austin texas drink cazadores... would have been nice to try it alongside the others.

did not drink the blancos chilled, that might affect things. i paid 40 for 750ml casa noble, 750ml patron silver going for 50. i also saw that cabo wabo blanco was on sale for 37, when I had that way back in college I seemed to recall it was excellent and 37 seems like a good deal. i might have to swing by and get some more bottles (cabo wabo and casa noble for myself), though i am not sure the wife will understand why I need 4 bottles at the house :(

JS80 that sounds like an amazing deal. i never did get that cabo wabo. however, i did have a buddy over and we taste tested Corazon Reposado vs Cazadores Reposado. Unanimous decision, by a landslide, in favor of Cazadores. We really didn't want to drink any more of the Corazon after the first shot of each. I did force 3 more each since I just wanted to get rid of the bottle though!

Sadly my local liquor store (of the 2 I have looked in, there is one more I can try), doesn't carry any of the anejos of don julio, casa noble or cazadores. I may be able to order them though... GD state run liquor stores...

Sweet. Can't wait to crack it open tonight.

The Cazadores Reposado was $28.99. Also the costco was in LA.

How much of a difference between reposado and añejo?

Añejo has a bit more of a refined taste and maybe a little smoother. That said, I always get Reposado from Cazadores because i'm just not snobby enough to care and think it's smooth enough to enjoy. I've gotten the añejo several times but it's not worth the extra expense to me. They're both ultimately going in mah belleh!

My wife and I only drink Caz straight. We've mixed it once or twice, but we generally do shots if we're doing tequila.

Guys, I almost picked up some Patron today. Just jumped in and saw this thread. Can you order any of these online for a decent price? Any recommendations on that?

Which one of the following is best bang for the buck:

1800 Reposado 750ml 24.95
1800 Silver Tequila 750ml 24.95
Cazadores Blanco 750ml 28.95
Jose Cuervo Expecial Silver 750ml 18.95 (Not 100% agrave, right?)

Depends on how much of the flavor you want to get from the wood barrels. Sometimes more is not always better.

As an example, some single-malt scotches, I actually enjoy the younger ones than the older ones (12 yr vs. 18 yr) as some of the 18yr just gets boring with the vanilla/wood/ almost soupy/goupy flavor, whereas the younger ones have a more fruit/floral type flavor.

You guys rock. I just bought a Cazadores Reposado. My wife and I finished a 750 in one week. Wow is that stuff good. $32 too. We're going to be heading to AA if we keep this up. Is there anything else that has the same taste quality for that value?

This weekend I grabbed a bottle of Cabo Wabo Reposado to go head to head against the Cazadores Reposado. Was a much closer fight than with the Corazon. Of the four people that tried both, it was a unanimous decision in favor of Cazadores, but all only slightly.

Both bottles 39.99/750ML in my area

VA ABC stores have $5 rebate attached to the bottles of:

1800 Anejo (aged over 1yr) 750ml $32 - $5 reabte = $27
1800 Reposado (aged 2months to 1yr) 750ml 25 - 5 = 20
1800 Silver Tequila (aged up to 2months) 750ml 25 -5 = 20

the Reposado seems to be best bang for the buck.

Now what to mix it with? :)

Cazadores is nowhere near as good as Patron.

Patron is one of those things that is popular because it is so f*cking good.

Unlike Lady Gaga or...the iPad, etc....
